JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- As promised, a state senator on Tuesday called for an investigation into whether an upcoming sex workshop on bondage, domination and sadomasochism is legal and safe.

The resolution by Sen. John Loudon, R-Ballwin, calls for the state health department and attorney general to investigate the safety and legality of such events.

Martin Scorcese and Willam Defoe are hardly unknowns the film would have still be seen and reviewed regardless. The film was protested before it was even made (the protesters sought to convince studios not to make it). Some earlier "urban legend" books (not Brunvand's) debunked the whole notion of an attempt to make a movie that was sacreligious to Christians.

The studios do know how to manipulate the protestors though. Mirimax planned to release a movie critical of the Catholic Church, Priest, on Easter weekend a few years ago. I believe that they ended up slipping the date out a few weeks.

Heterosexual sodomy was legalized in Texas in the early 1970s (the homosexual variety is still illegal though). I've heard too that "sodomy" laws actually refer to oral sex. That's about as far as I intend to go with descriptions though, lest this post or thread get pulled.

The private residences that were running web cam sex sites were "prosecuted" (probably not the right word) for violations of zoning codes. At least the ones I have seen in the news.

And the hotel in question is not engaging in the sex trade, not establishing a "sex trade" place of business such as an adult book store. It is providing its facilities to an organization/group that has done exactly what all others who have used it have done... paid the fee and abided by their rules.

And what makes you think that i don't invite such activities to my home? I clearly would be in my rights to do so. Your allowed to throw parties at your house aren't you?

To be honest with you I do not know why it is prohibited. I think I would be safe in saying "societial and/or religious standards". Should it be though? Has it always been?

And there is big difference between marriage and an S&M fest, in regardes to the authority that government has over the two. Marriage is a legal contract.

Why is polygomy prohibited?

That is nowhere in the same ballpark as sodomy between consenting adults in private. Legal marriage is way more than folks hooking up and doing the white picket fence thing-- your whole financial and legal life is tied up with this person you're married to... This is why folks have a problem with gays hooking up and whatnot... Adoption privileges, credit ratings, insurance, all that crap is affected by a legal marriage...

every law they pass is based on morals. Think about it.

You're shouting into the wind that is the hot air of folks who've lost all Common Sense.

Cheers!

I just thought of another reverse scenario for allowing this type of legislation to pass. Im sure you have heard of that book that teaches kids about sex? It was on O'reilly the other night. It also says that adult "hands on" teaching of young kids about sex isnt pedophelia,it teaching kids how to have a "positive sexual experience". How would you like certain groups based on the morality of tolerance (gag)to have the county forced into having that book on the shelves of High Schools? Of Middle Schools?

I disagree with NC's alienation of affection laws as well. And I hope that you will admit that the law is primarily used as a weapon by the 'agrieved' spouse in divorce court to extort money and deny the children to the other spouse.

And in a recent case the husband was convicted under the law but the women he had an affair with was aquited. By the same judge! Thats just nonsense.

And don't forget, oral sex is illegal in this state for ANYONE to engage in, as is sex in any position other than missionary. Now report yourself to the police for violation of above laws ya pervert! You are a danger to society with your reckless disregard for these laws.

The muslim religion allows polygomy, as I understand it. Is it a violation of their religious freedom and a violation of the "seperation of church and state" to prevent muslims from taking multiple wives?

Im sure that is antiquated law that they havent gotten around to changing. It would be discriminatory against handicapped people.

You would be surprised how many states have such laws on the books. I can not remember the site, but there is one that lists such laws for all the states.

Their enforcement is virtually impossible and they are just ignored. But why they have never been repealed is a question I have never had answered.

No I do not admit that. I feel that the law is a check for those who feel the responsibility of marriage isn't as much fun after a few years of marriage or even twenty years of marriage. It's also a warning to those that would covet their neighbor's wife(oops two of the Ten Commandments broken. They're Commandments not suggestions)You took the vows before God Almighty and they are meant for life, not until you get tired of playing house

As baptist as Missouri is,Ill bet we have similar laws. The handicapped angle is an interesting one. If missionary is the only way to do it legally, what does a parapelegic do? Abstain? If the government told me I couldnt have sex....

but the idea of a government trying to regulate morality has problems, too

Remember Sex in public is against the law. So is assault. Hitting another is assult and even if that person agrees to it the police are obliged to arrest the person doing the hitting. That is why if your husband or wife beats you they get arrested even if you do not want them to be arrested.
