what's with all the French apologists? Name one battle they won in the 20th century.

Verdun, WWI. Falkenheyn promised to bleed the French white, but the fort held out for a full year of siege.

You are so wrong. Have you considered what 9-ll did to this country? Consider two world wars, a terrible climate, and then spout off. By the way, did you serve?

From everything I have studied, the French did not ask the USA to intervene. The USA supposedly was defending S. Vietnam because it was a strategic post. Later, I was told this is not the case. If we needed to be there, it does not make sense that we gave up.

And collaborator-ridden France would not have existed after WWII if it were not for the efforts of others. If you can't comprehend that, then take a side trip to the military cemeteries wherein hundreds of thousands of non-French soldiers, sailors, and airmen are buried with honor.

And let us not forget who got their candy asses whipped by the commies in Vietnam before the rest of the world had to come in and try to clean up the mess France made of its former outpost. I heard that Alec Baldwin still is looking for a roommate to share his new post-Clinton French digs. Check it out -- you'll probably have the entire barn to yourself....

At last a voice of reason. I have no idea why some posters on FR find the French fair game for such hate. As I mentioned in an earlier post, would these guys talk about blacks like this?

I really did not understand the Ugly American until I came to a thread like this. Thank you again for your comments.

Only conservatives should rule--about time. We are facing a serious crisis, and we need to garner the aid of all Europeans.

I'm off to bed (about time).

But I will always fight against any "American" spouting off against France.

Let's face it, "they" only dream of the unity Europe STILL has.

Keep smiling, Philip.

Vietnamese who did not have the cojones,

The Viets fought like tigers and held off the Communists for 2 years until their ordnance and supplies ran out because the US Congress cut off all funding and supplies This was after our military had trained the southerners to fight American style with American hardware and methods. When our Liberals cut them off they were in the middle of war and did not have the margin of time to completely change their outlook or build the factories for producing their own ordnance. We disengaged gradually and properly, the Viets were holding their own and Congress kicked them off the cliff.

You've a point, sorta dull though.

In 1948 when the Brit's split Isreal they gave the keys to the armories to the Palies. Who won? Who had the cojones? The VC fought with antiquated weapons, and they won. Who had the cojones? Who had the will to win? The general population of the army of the Republic of Vietnam was incredibly weak, ineffective and outright cowardly. Its true that there were some sharp RVN units, but they were grossly in the minority.

Did we sign a surrender? ...

No surrender document was signed, but few doubt the rights we've slowly been surrendering to the government (and snail darters, and spotted owls...) in the names of "security" and "the environment."

Le Pen might win some sympathy for the French with three magic words: "Alec, stay out!!!"

They left off Algeria.

And the undeclared war of 1798 with us (they lost).

And the WW II sideshows -- France vs. Thailand; France vs. Britain (Oran, Madagasgar, Syria;) France vs. US in North Africa. They lost them all of course.

Also the Mexicans did a pretty good job themselves of beating up the French. That's what Cinco de Mayo is all about.

And they forgot Haiti -- in which the French manged to be on the losing side of the only successful slave rebellion in the Western Hemisphere.

Thank the French! They gave so much.

My Father damned near died on D-Day minus one..in France. Then he damned near died in Baston, surrounded and out numbered, but he fought his way out anyway (where were those "brave" French troops to relieve him?). He fought across the Rhien to the heart of Germany. He liberated German consentration camps Ubergammergeau, and finally, Dachau. What my Dad saw could last thousands of livetimes in the mind of a Christian man. He freed France, and he paid his dues to the French People. Many Americans gave their lives for the liberation of France, now the French pi$$ on their graves.

Note to France: Got to Hell, and never darken my door again! Save youselves, you egotistical, elistist bastards! We've given enough blood.
