I suppose that homosexuality is the reason why archdiocese after archdiocese covered up these attacks and shifted the perpetrators from parish to parish to allow them to prey again? The fact that this happened at all is terrible. The fact that it happened and the Archbishops covered it up instead of taking steps to remove the men involved is unforgivable. It seems to me that the Monsignor is trying to shift the spotlight away from the Cardinal.

It seems to me that the Monsignor is trying to shift the spotlight away from the Cardinal. No. He's getting to the root of the problem, which is sin.

Don't rule it out. Insiders have started speaking about a "Lavendar mafia" of gay clergy within the Church who look after each other. This group allegedly includes bishops and archbishops.

There have probably always been about the same number of homosexuals in the world. Priest have been diddling little boys for a thousand years. Homosexuals are naturally attracted to the Church. The Church knows this, but they keep the celibacy thing for power reasons.
Even if the retain they celibacy rules, which are completely arbitrary and not in the Bible BTW, a few other changes would take care of most of the problems. Male clergy should not be allowed to be alone with small groups of children. Men found alone with children in the Church should be severely punished, and abuser should be aggressively prosecuted rather than enabled and protected.
But the Church probably won't make the kind of changes that are needed until they're forced to pay, like now with billions of dollars of lawsuits in the pipeline. It's a shame that it has to come to that, but the Church has no one to blame but themselves, not Americans and not gays. Eugene Clarks the point man for the weenie way out.

The fact that it happened and the Archbishops covered it up instead of taking steps to remove the men involved is unforgivable. 'It' did not 'happen', 'Sin' was 'committed'. If the sins were not committed they would not have been covered up. The coverup was also a sin. Forgiveness of sin is up to a higher authority than you.

You (and others) keep saying "covered it up". My understanding is that these men were treated by certified psychotherapists and declared "cured" and sent back to work. That was the accepted treatment at the time. Now that that the psychotherapists have declared that this tendency is incuruble, everyone wants to scream "cover-up".
I don't see everyone in the country jumping all over the entire public school system every time a school board has hired a pedophile -- or the YMCA -- or the Boy Scouts. In fact, in the case of the Boy Scouts, the entire country seems to be jumping all over them for NOT hiring pedophiles.

I agree wholeheartedly!! Heaven forbid the man point out that the disorder occuring within the church is just a sign of how far society within this nation has fallen in just the past 100 or so odd years
