I must confess I hope he can provoke the Muslims in France to acts of folly.

A major Muslim riot would be as much of a wake-up call to France, as the LA riot was to the US

"A war on Iraq is nothing more than a war for American material interests. The problem with the Americans is that their disproportionate power makes them undertake policies that aren't always balanced and well-considered, and therefore dangerous. Today, there is worldwide tendency to dance to the tune of the powerful

Hmmm?

I, on the other hand, am a French patriot concerned with the interests of France. Am I supposed to go crazy with admiration for the Americans just because they are Americans?"

Of course not! We know French dislike Americans.

Large sections of French suburbs are becoming "no go zones" for the police.

IOW, they are soon going to be little JENINS, and getting them "cleaned out" will be nothing like the LA riots.

This is a major challenge for the French.

Yes indeed, I had been led to believe he was a mouth breather who didn't shave and banged his shoes on tables to make a point.

Far from it!

There will be no will to do this, until something really big happens. The French Left will riot if the French govt tries to crack down on the Muslims. It will take something so big that the majority of France cannot ignore that this will determine the future survival of France as France

There is a trial going on as we speak in Germany of an Al Qaida cell which was captured before they could carry out their plan to blow up Notre Dame Cathedral.

It's not about the Jews, it's about the "infidel" West.....

I think that if Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre or Versaille were blown up, the French would tackle the muslim ghettos, which would quickly become "Jenins".

Then at least the boil might be lanced, and the infection dealt with.

I'm not French, but living in France for the unforseeable future.

I've been telling everyone I know that it's imperative for the French to take Le Pen seriously. By just brushing him off, one ignores the real fears of the French people.

Some very insightful people that I know try to get it through to me how truely dangerous he is, but I still, having seen the anarchy in the Parisian suburbs, see that unless someone is willing to do the hard work of bringing this unassimisated rabble under control, the situation will only get worse, and like Le Pen himself says: need more violence to deal with.

Sharon was also considered an uncouth savage brute for 15 years, until the 2nd intifada.

Just wait until the French muslim enclaves turn into little "Jenins", giving sanctuary to terrorists and sniping at the gendarmes.

Then it will get very interesting.

Thanks for the link, I'd seen it in the Hebrew edition.

You'd just have to hear/ see Chirac to see how out-classed he is.

Chirac is nauseatingly condescending.

Will they debate? Is LePen going to get national media air time? Is he a good TV speaker?

I'm not sure.

Family just arrived that claimed that Chirac will never debate Le Pen because Le Pen will throw him off with his 'low-class' language (Chirac will not know how to respond). Also, Le Pen will manage to get as much media time as possible because pretty much any exposure he gets is tamer than his reputation.

I don't know how to read this. Anyone (unlike myself), who has lived in France for the past 20-30 years is CONVINCED that he is like Hitler.

My son came home with a joke that Le Pen supposedly said:

'When I get voted in, I'll give the Jews 40,000 francs to leave France. The blacks I'll give 5 minutes!'

This just seems odd, in light of this interview.

There's talk of a large block of voters who will vote for Chirac, but with gloves on, or with tweezers holding the ballot. (Oh, the French, for symbolism....)

I can see them pointing out if he really is anti-Jew but I haven't seen much real evidence of that. It seems the left isn't clear either ---they say Le Pen is a Nazi and they also compare him to Sharon of Israel, saying they're the same type.

I hope he gets a wide viewing all over Europe in the next 2 weeks before the election.

The main threat to Jews in France comes from the Muslims, not Le Pen. He's opposed to the Muslims and appears to be a potential great ally of the Jews. Their opposition to him looks very self defeating. Some liberal Jews seem to have a death wish.

Since they also call Sharon a Nazi, I guess that answers the question about Le Pen.

The liberals don't seem to know how to respond to Le Pen ---since they're against Jews themselves and have become pro-Palestinian, they compare him to Sharon but they know if they emphasize his anti-Muslim immigrant stance, they'll help him get votes so then they drag out the anti-Jew propaganda on him.

The liberals are against French and Israeli nationalism but they are in full support of the Palestinian nationalism. It's going to be interesting to watch this election because the liberals will be shown for what they are.

It's going to be even more interesting to see the French liberal socialist reaction when their muslim enclaves become little "Jenins" and it is clear that they are sanctuaries for bomb makers and terrorists.

What will they advise be done then? Make peace? Cede the former French territory to the world wide islamic umma?
