Not only that, but the businesses that are not tourist related suffer as well. Car dealerships close because customers cant get there, for example. Restaurants lose any profits they make from skipped checks, which appears to be the most popular sport of the attendees. Locals basically just stay in their homes until Sunday evening. My parents, who live there, just leave town.

I am amazed at the interest this thread is receiving. It does affect all of us when one town is invaded against it's will and we are supposed to excuse it because: "They have as much right to be there as you do" or "It's a free country" or "It's a public road", etc.

It's about invasion, lewdness, flash-point riot conditions, guns, prostitutes, dope, and total trashing a town.

I've emailed the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager to alert them that the whole country is getting an eyefull of what Galveston is like during this invasion.
