Conservatives That You Dislike (Name The Conservatives That You DISLIKE!!!)
Self | April 21, 2002 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 04/21/2002 5:18:55 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

I recently posted a thread called LIBERALS THAT YOU LIKE where I challenged you to list the liberals that you like. This time, I have an even tougher challenge for you: Name the CONSERVATIVES that you DISLIKE.

To make this challenge even tougher you can list only AUTHENTIC conservatives, not pretend conservatives. What you need to do is to find conservatives that you agree with generally but for some reason you still dislike them. Yes, this is a tough challenge but I will kick it off with my own list of Conservatives that I dislike:

1. Tucker Carlson---Yes, he is a conservative with whom I am in general political agreement most of the time but I still can't stand the guy. He comes off as a smarmy bastard who is overly pleased with himself. He also loses points with me because of his dopey bow ties since I automatically have an animus towards anybody who wears those types of ties. I dislike Tucker Carlson so much that I actually root for liberal Margaret Carlson in their CNN debates just to see Tucker get his comeuppance. My theory is that CNN hired the most personally objectionable conservative possible just so anything he says will be discredited by the audience.

2. Todd Schnitt---An incredibly boring radio talk show host syndicated in several Florida radio markets. This piece of Schnitt will take a subject and talk it to death. The other day he spent a full 2 hours boring us to death with a discussion about what it is like to win the lottery. Schnitt is basically a wise-ass DJ who is now doing political discussions and is in way over his depth. He recently had the temerity to say that the main reason why Rush was bigger than him is that Rush had about 14 years to develop his radio show. No, Schnitt. The reason why Rush is bigger than you is that he is INTERESTING and you're NOT.

3. Robert Taft, Sr.---Actually not so much Robert Taft, Sr. but what he represented, namely clueless unhip Republicans that were easy targets for liberals. For years the typical Republican congressman or senator was a witless dolt who was easy to satirize. Taft himself had no sense of humor from what I could read or see in documentaries. Think Roosevelt or Truman or the Demmycrats in general didn't have a field day with Taft and his awkward ilk? Finally in 1980, Ronald Reagan came along with a twinkle in his eye and a sense of humor that infuriated the liberals when he turned the tables on them and made THEM the butt of the jokes. Liberals must be praying for the return of Robert Taft but fortunately the Taft types are now few in number.

4. Talkative Conservative Dinner Speakers---I am referring to conservatives so carried away with their own thoughts that they rudely speak BEFORE dinner even if they are scheduled to be AFTER dinner speakers. Get a clue! AFTER dinner means you speak AFTER dinner. Man, I hate it when someone speaks and I have a plate of food in front of me but I can't eat it because it is supposed to be impolite to eat when the speaker is talking. By the time I get around to eating my cold food I am really pissed off. Also please hold down on the long sermonettes. A lot of the same dinner speakers will say grace and then turn it into a speech. Hey, the next time some AFTER dinner speaker speaks before dinner, I'm just going to go ahead and gobble down my meal. Sorry, for the rant on this but waiting to eat while someone is yakking away is a real pet peeve of mine.

5. The FAU Troll---This is a conservative guy who is a student at the FAU (Florida Atlantic University) Davie campus. You can't miss him because he is incredibly LOUD and has a real chip on his shoulder. Before this guy even gives you a chance to speak he automatically assumes you are a liberal and starts arguing with you. This guy actually assumes that everybody at that campus is a liberal and walks around with a real chip on his shoulder. Worst of all, he is LOUD. I can hear this creep from way down the hallway since he is constantly arguing in a LOUD voice. If the Demmycrats were smart they would hire this guy to tour the country to speak so as to discredit conservatism.

Paul Gigot---The PBS house conservative. Gigot is usually paired off on the PBS newshour with Mark Shields. Unfortunately, Gigot is way too polite. Shields will make some vicious attack and Gigot just has a pleasant smile for him. During the Clinton impeachment hearings and trial, Gigot actually did get a bit animated but he now seems to be relapsing. Someone with more spine who will stand up to Shields is needed on that program. Gigot is a nice guy but that might be his problem---he is too nice.

William Bennett. Too patronizing.

Wm. F. Buckley. Too incoherent.

Alan Keyes. Too hysterical.

I myself don't like Pat Buchanan, but I don't think of him as being a proper conservative, anyway.

Ditto that. I can't come up with any logical reason for considering Buchanan to be a Conservative, but all the media refer to him as one, so he tops my list.

I must have missed something as to why Ann Coulter should be exempt from this forum, but....

The very first thought I had when this was posted, was none other than Ann Coulter.

As the author of this post pointed out, who do you dislike, not who you disagree with.

I happen to agree with quite a bit of what she writes, I just can't stand her presentation of those views.

I can't be the only one that cringes when I see her on a talk show. Her views are so disjointed, and annoying.

I think that we as conservatives, could find a much better mouth piece than this anorexic screamer.

OK Flame away!

1. Bill Kristol & anyone associated with his crummy little pamphlet, The Standard.

2. Bill Bennett

3. Bill Buckley (due to his hit piece on Buchanan and Sobran.)

I don't think you missed anything. I just think you DELIBERATELY WANT TO STIR UP TROUBLE on a quiet Sunday morning.

Why do you think I posted the link to the thread?

Did you read any of it?

Don Myers knows what I mean, and has courteously refrained from posting again on this thread about her.

If it has to be spelled out, it's because any discussion of Ann Coulter devolves into a conversation that tends to pit men against women..with men focusing on her physical attributes (or lack thereof), and women tending to defend her, or again, criticizing her on the basis of her looks, or her voice, or her dating habits.

In other words, been there, done that.

The thread in the link I posted lasted like three days, and you can still read/post.

ENOUGH ALREADY!

:)))

I don't really hate Ashcroft, but that problem he has with the statue of justice or whatever makes him look like a humorless prude. We don't need super-religious types who cringe and turn red at the sight of a half-naked STATUE!!! that has been a symbol of justice for countless years for crying out loud. Putting drapes on the sculpture made him a laughingstock and ripe for satire and us too by extension.

Our local talk show guy here in Milwaukee, Mark Belling, is a conservative, but is also an obnoxious ass.

He won't let callers make points and hangs up on them if they do, and then he calls them stupid.

Follow the link to listen. (Weekdays 3-6 CST)

"Buchanan can take some credit IMO for the Clinton years since he backstabbed Bush Sr"

While buchanan did hurt bush sr. somewhat, it was the republicrat party itself who put two tired old men to run against clinton in two elections. The blame should be placed right on the doorstep of the party for their "me too" approach.

bush campaigned as if he didn't want it and dole had the appearance of a stern old man. In addition, 50%+ don't even bother to vote.

I'm happy to know that someone else shares my feelings about Keyes. I can't listen to Jack Kemp; his voice is worse than nails scratching a blackboard. Ashcroft has been a hug disappointment. He always has a terrified look on his face.

I do not disagree with you about men vs. women. (I am a woman by the way).

All I meant by my post was that she happens to be the one conservative that I happen to agree with, yet I dislike her.

My own personal opinion only, I agree I don't want this to become an Ann Coulter post.

I only posted my opinion on this opinion forum.

Thanks for the kind critism though, I expected flames, not sparks, you are truely an open minded person (no sarcasm intended, just heartfelt praise to you)

I agree Gary Bauer is the worst. Can't stand Pat Robertson and that goofy grin of his. Jerry Falwell doesn't do anything for me either. I think Sean Hannity is awful on television. I like Ann Coulter's writing but think she is absolutely terrrible on television - her debating is pathetic. Tucker Carlson is ....I don't know what but I can't stand to watch him either. David Horowitz is wonderful but his debating skills on TV are awful as well. Bob Novak drives me nuts.

As far as I can tell, the only good ones on TV (which I appear to be focusing on) are Brit Hume and Fred Barnes.

I can't believe some people on this thread have mentioned the likes of McCain and Specter. I thought the criterion was 'conservative.' Sheesh...

Is Gigot still on with Shields? I thought he stepped down when he took over the editorial page of the WSJ. I thought David Brooks took his place. Please advise.

I haven't watched that show in some time, as is evidenced by my inquiry!

Zell Miller - Taking the seat of a dead Republican, Miller talks a good conservative game, flirts with changing parties, but plays handmaiden for the Senate Dims. Miller is responsible for Daschle becoming Majority Leader, for Leahy bottling up Bush's judicial nominees, and every other chicksh#t thing the Senate Dims have done because Miller won't vote the way he talks

Huh? He votes better than many Republicans in the Senate. Are you just pissed that he wont change parties for you?
