When will your priests and bishops start marrying? It seems the inevitable fate of every schismatic movement. Will you be merging with the Old Catholic Church since obviously you don't like that Vatican I idea of an infallible papacy since you so blithely dismiss Pope John Paul II and have the effrontery to demand that he do penance for his disagreements with your narrow little slice of prsumptuous schismatics.

I repeat to you what I have posted before St. Mary's Shrine in Rockford has none of the faults you accuse the Church of having AND it is in communion with our wonderfully orthodox Bishop Thomas Doran and with Rome. If Protestants cannot resist the urge to take advantage of this sorry moment in the history of liberal AmChurch, it is understandable. If SSPX has not the sense to refrain, have a party. Those Catholics you wish to recruit (the Traditionalist ones in communion with Rome) have long memories.

Why not study the life and wisdom of St. Thomas More and particulary his conversation with Richard White about upholding the law and the consequences of not doing so even in pursuit of Stan himself. Pope Paul VI prophetically warned what would happen if Catholics succumbed to the "contraceptive mentality," or this golden calf known as the American way of life. one evident result is that si-called Catholics have abortions at the same rate as nonbelievers. The name for this is practical atheism.

The faith is unchanged and unchangeable. Sometimes I find it hard to tell the difference between Lefebvrists and liberal Catholic dissidents -- your hatred of the Pope shines through in either case. In Boston we have the pleasure of reading the Boston Globe and the likes of Eileen McNamara, who calls for the Pope's resignation (Cardinal Law is too minor a target for her) because he has the gall not to change the Church into a clone of the Unitarian church in accordance with the infallible liberal magisterium of, say, the Boston Globe.

When you find the true purpose of an action it makes it so easy. Take celebicy, for instance, the liberals and so on will bombard you with all manner of excuses on why you should refrain from this act....On the other hand with lay people who have been married for years and have lived with the Lord during those times find it hard when one spouse dies. Most never remarry but devote themselves to the Lord, by attending Mass and firming their faith. They do not become recluses but share with others the Joy's they have found with God......So with our priests, they have offered their lives to preach the Word of God..remain celebate to be able without interruption fullfil their goal. and offer the greatest gift to our Lord. When it is truly practised it can bring a peace that surpasses all understanding....I say to the Clergy, remain true to your vows for a greater reward awaits you when called to eternity....Eternity is forever, Life on earth is but a blink of an eye to the almighty. Peace.

Thanks for the reply Adam and like I said; it's no different than overeating. Probably the people most unable to control this particular appetite are people who have never really gone without, in that, in lieu of a real person to engage with it in, they look to self gratification, so they never really get past the initial stage I referred to in my first post.

And there is no more pathetic or self insulting act than self gratification; it screams..."I'm a loser..." I prefer celibacy to sex without love or meaning.

Getting rid of known homosexual priests would be first priority.

Priests are on the frontline of fund raising for the Vatican which is what led to this mess in the first place. Much more important to keep the money coming in than to do the right thing for your average Catholic.

Thanks for the insights elk and I can assure you I have no such delusions of expertise regarding the Catholic religion or it bylaws. It is of absolutely NO concern to me how any organization, group, cult or religion establishes or conducts it's own affairs.

I tend to break some things down into good and evil with not a lot of gray. My curiosity is piqued when I see "good" being challenged by evil and being critical in nature, I question WHY.

I see the Catholic church and it's philosophies as overall good but I see the problem with the pedophile priests as evil. The only question I ever asked in this thread is where does the "celibacy thing" come from and does it have an influence on the pedophile priest problem.

Your answer here was much better than the previous "don't criticize what you don't understand". As I said, I am critical by nature, especially of things I don't totally understand.
