If these events in Moscow are indeed true, it clearly shows that times have changed drastically in world politics. Many of us in here have been saying that we should take out Saudi Arabia prior to Iraq - giving the US control of Mecca and Medina - while at the same time preventing any use of the "oil weapon". The oil weapon, however, would already have been offset by Russia who is vying to take the lead role in importation of oil to the US from the Saudis. This further explains why the Saudis left Moscow empty handed - why would President Putin do anything for his competition? Seems like the former head of the KGB is a smart capitalist rather than the Communist puppet the tin foil types have accused him of being.
It all sounds to me that the complete alliance between the US and Russia that I've been advocating may well happen. Don't you just bet the Chinese and the EU are loving every minute of this? This new partnership should be just what the world needs to get rid of the UN as well. Between the US and Russia, I'd say that there's a new Sheriff in town - and he's got a real dislike for Islam.... ROFLMAO.

I hope there was a contingency plan was seizing the oil fields but I don't know since I thin Bush was pre-empted by Saddam using Arafat to stir things up in Palestine .
In any case the Saudis must be nervous as hell not knowing which way to turn

This also adds some weight to the reports of the US military's departure from Saudi Arabia was maybe not the brightest thing the Saudi's have done. They should be more careful what they wish for - now we can strike them at will as they have no credible defense. In retrospect, this is one thing we can thank bin Loser for - he wanted us out of Saudi Arabia.
All your oil are belong to us, A-Rab.

Mecca, Iraq, West Bank...
We'll call it the 'Hashemite Option'.

The long game, of course, is an anti-Chinese entente between the U.S. and Russia: Russia has a vulnerable border with the Chicoms, the U.S. is concerned about the growth of Chinese seapower. That will be part of the outcome of this war.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Well, I don't know where their info comes from. As for Iraq, what are the Saudis going to say to Russia - "We'll get you back all your oil development deals there?" Russia would believe that? While Saudi has profitted on the lack of oil exports from Iraq?
Interesting article, but the fact that it does not mention the word "oil" makes it suspect, IMO. Saudi Arabians, and Chavez' man Ali Rodriquez, have been hustling to Moscow for months to get them to drop their market share strategy and agree to oil output limits. The price of oil is high now because of the Venezuela situation and the Iraqi/Iranian promoted increase in Intifada violence, peppered with insincere market scare tactics about "embargoes."
I wonder when the Saudi flew to Russia - was it pre-planned? Because Putin announced that Russia would peg its budget on a lower expected oil price - $16.50 per bbl. Saudi must be scared since it can only profit with a bbl price of over $22.00 or so.
I'll post you the Russian info later.

Posters persist in quoting Stratfor, but if I post Debka I get flamed for it.
Why would the Russians help Saudi monarchists, these are the two big oil states, they are competitors. Which do Russians need, US food and everything we have, or Saudi sand?
Of any 2 nations on earth, the Saudi and Russian ought to be opposed to each other...

Actually, the Russians have a government
now that is what the American government was originally designed as: a Constitutional Republic, with three SEPARATE branches of government, and multiple political parties. To top it off, they recently kicked all of the Communist Party members out of the Duma (their House of Representatives) - while we retain 59 members of the Communist Party in ours.
The most ironic part of this may well be that if Presidents Bush and Putin pull this new alliance off, the real losers in this country will be the Democrats. The American Communists will have been defeated by their former mentor nation - a nation that is now much further to the right than our own political system. Gotta love it.

May God bless Mother Russia, always predicted to be by America's side when it really counts.
May she not fall again into temptation, and may she return to holiness in our days.

Screw Saudi Arabia. We can get more oil, cheaper, from Russia and they need the hard currency.
Let the Saudis eat their oil!

The Saudis will soon reap the result of their treachery.
They have by their actions, condemned themselves to exclusion from the modern world....they will revert to nomads in tents before this is over.....

Anything Stratfor says concerning the war on terror should be read as something Osama bin Laden wants you to believe.
Debka are loons. Stratfor on this subject, and the Middle East in general, should be considered the agent of a certain unfriendly non-governmental organization.
Stratfor is effectively a propaganda arm of Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence here. And the ISI is a partner of Al Qaeda.

Big difference between Stratfor and Debka: Stratfor is a think-tank, while Debka is a quasi-tabloid. Sometimes Debka gets it right, sometimes Stratfor is wrong. There is a difference between analysis (which is based upon actual events and their perception of them) and "journalism" that is practiced by Debka.
The entire jist of the article is that Russia will not be helping Saudi Arabia one bit.

Yes, and Putin is also a great student of economics. He instituted a 13% flat income tax in Russia that has the economy beginning to hum. The democrats in this country (and moderate reupblicans) should take note.
