SACRAMENTO, Calif -- Two men are being sought for allegedly pulling off to the side of a dead end road and unleashing a vicious pit bull on an unsuspecting cat. And the entire assault was caught on videotape.
Security video captured the attack last January at an industrial area in north Sacramento off Striker and Truxel roads.
The videotape shows the men stopping their car and popping the trunk open. That's when a cat jumps out. The dog takes off in hot pursuit. The cat is eventually cornered.
"What they're doing here is dragging out the cat. They have something around its neck," SPCA officer Katy Peralta said.
And after the cat is horribly mauled by the pit bull. One man dumps it in the street in front of the car's left front tire. The other man rolls the car over the animal, first forward and then backward.
"The guy standing in front of the car will lift the cat up and toss it into the field. That's what he just did. And the guy in the checkered sweatshirt just let the dog go to continue mauling the cat," Peralta said.
The cat was found in that field by investigators the next day.
"There could be one of two things they're doing here. They could want to intentionally hurt some one close to them by taking someone's cat, or they training that animal to be a fighter," Peralta said.
In this case, a bigger concern for the SPCA is when a dog is trained to chase anything that runs away, its next victim may be a child. The SPCA is now asking the public to help find these two men. They are driving a 1990s model Toyota Celica with a license plate in the front passenger window. The dog is a brown or tan pit bull. And investigators believe the cat, with some unique markings, may have been some one's pet.
"It is a black and brown tabby cat with four white paws, very distinctive. It's a neutered male, and it's very young," Peralta said.
The SPCA is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two men.
When caught, the men will face animal cruelty charges. Charges that could put them behind bars for up to five years with a $20,000 fine.
If you have any information on the case, you are asked to call the SPCA at (916) 383-7387, extension 9127

And what many people don't understand is that those that harm humans usually start with animals.
I just want someone to explain to me why these pukes did this. Maybe they can explain while unleash some dogs on them.

This definitely sounds like someone training dogs to harm humans. If this is the case this is serious.

Something like this is so hard for me to believe....I think I would go into some kind of shock if I saw this....and I would completely lose it and attack those guys out of madness and insanity. That poor cat....How horrible.

I like dogs, I own cats, I loathe people that are so weak that they have to have animals act out their fantasies of power and bloodlust. This makes me want to join the ASPCA Swat team, except I'd tend to aim for the groin and forget to apply first aid or call for the ambulance.

I'm no cat lover, nor am I a PETA fan, but these yahoos should go to jail.

If you think these pukes are great for what they did, then why don't you be a man and say so?
To: Bella_Bru
Justice would be for the perpetrators to have done to them what they did to the cat.
To: Bella_Bru
I hoppe they catch these sicko's and they get the max penalty, 5 years and $20,000.

But of course, they won't. If they are even caught.

You aren't nearly as amusing as you think you are.

I really can't say what I think about your attitude in posting that. But I can say your opinions on any other subjects are no longer of the slightest interest to me. Adieu.
