The memorial seemed to have been planned well in advance. It was too put together to have been timely. It also occurred at a critical point in bill clinton's career.

convenient was it not? His numbers in the polls were slipping; he had lost the House and Senate, and the American people were PROBABLY on the verge of kicking his slimy butt out of office. But...all of the sudden there was THIS. This horrible event that took the attention away from HIS failures as a president and turned him into a HERO. (blech).
I always thought it was just a little strange. But people around me just scoffed. As if.
