JUDICIAL WATCH FIGHTS CLINTON IRS ATTEMPTED AUDIT
IRS OFFICIAL ADMITS: WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU SUE THE PRESIDENT?
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the non-profit educational foundation that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it was fighting in court an audit attempt instituted by the Clinton IRS in retaliation for Judicial Watchs litigation against President Clinton. Judicial Watch first received notice of an attempted IRS audit on October 9, 1998, a few days after its Interim Impeachment Report, which called for Bill Clintons impeachment for misuse of the IRS, was officially made part of the Congressional record. The IRSs initial audit letter demanded that Judicial Watch [p]rovide the names and addresses of the directors and their relationship to any political party or political groups. In January, 1999, an IRS official admitted to Judicial Watch representatives, in the context of the propriety of the audit, What do you expect when you sue the President? Another IRS official admitted in June, 1999, that the political affiliations of Judicial Watchs directors is a factor in any IRS audit.
After Judicial Watch scored legal victories against the Clinton Administration, Judicial Watch received audit notices and warnings from the IRS. For instance, immediately following its uncovering of the Clinton-Gore White House e-mail scandal in February, 2000, Judicial Watch lawyers received a call from an IRS official to inform them that Judicial Watch was still on the IRSs radar screen. The IRS finally agreed to defer on deciding whether to audit Judicial Watch until after the Clinton Administration ended. Despite this agreement, in one of the last acts of the Clinton Administration, the IRS sent Judicial Watch another audit notice on January 8, 2001. The IRS also sent new audit notices throughout 2001 after Judicial Watch criticized IRS Commissioner Charles Rossotti. Rossotti is a Clinton appointee who inexplicably continues to serve under President Bush. In addition to presiding over the audits of perceived critics of the Clinton Administration, Judicial Watch requested criminal and civil investigations of Rossotti for his criminal conflict of interest in holding stock in a company he founded, AMS, while it did business with the IRS.
Judicial Watch now is fighting the attempted audit in federal courts in the District of Columbia and Maryland. As Robert Novak reports in his April 18th column, despite repeated requests to Attorney General Ashcroft to investigate, his Bush Justice Department has thus far refused to do so. (See Judicial Watch's letter to Attorney General John Aschroft) Instead, in the context of Judicial Watchs lawsuit against the Cheney Energy Task Force, a Bush Administration official told Novak, I don't know what we are going to do with this Klayman. A copy of Judicial Watchs complaint against IRS officials is available by clicking here.
Judicial Watch has no objection to IRS audits at the proper time and place, under correct, non-political circumstances. We have nothing to hide. But when we were told that we were being audited because we sued Bill Clinton, we had no choice but to stand up and fight in court. Now, for its own reasons, the Bush Administration is content to let Clinton appointee Rossotti continue to harass Judicial Watch. Our lawsuits in response are intended not only to protect Judicial Watch, but are for the good of all Americans, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

It came in a faux special delivery envelope sporting vague USPS priority colors (orange, white, blue) it said it was a "USAD OVERNITE LETTER" .... timed in on 4/22 at 10:00, so "USAD" should really revisit their overnight (I mean overnite) letter logistics operations. It's one of those decoy layouts designed to elicit a "Must open. Must open. Might be money from a dead relative." robotic response.
The letter is 4 pages long, both sides, detailing all the good stuff JW has done (and they've done some good), the crushing forces of evil bearing down on them, and the urgent need to hire more attorneys to defend against the onslaught. Hiring more attorneys has pretty much been the overriding need of JW in every solicitation I've received in the last four years. I wonder how many attorneys JW has on staff or is contracting right now? I'll bet it is hundreds. So, it is the same old same old. Larry's recounting of JW's litigating history is what passes for "Educational Outreach Programs" I am sure, and it's just the same stuff that persuaded me to end my support back in 2000.
I did like it, however, when Larry sends me a letter with a dollar bill enclosed. I'd hold it up, snap it tautly by pulling from both ends , put it my pocket, and I'd say "Thanks Larry, you da man!". He doesn't do that very often anymore, not with those who haven't "paid da man" in the past year or two.
Yep and I so stated. So now there is a conflict... Owned up to be his contractor (mailing guru) and the NRCC, but denied by the 'eWW'..... What's a matter? The truth hurt a tiny little bit?
GO AUDIT GO
Dig dem bones, lets look at dat bullet hole
Now there's a defense. I hope that someone from Judicial Watch has the opportunity to read your post. There should be plenty of time for JW to amend its complaint.
"deport and ned are squawking on the other thread." (by Chase R)
I know exactly what thread you're referring to and I'm delighted to hear that they're all - uptight/fretting about the great exposure JudicialWatch.org is getting!! In fact, rofl... wait till they (along with Howlin and Iwo, Amelia and others)-come to find out that that particular thread will be bumped all this month of May/endlessly/relentlessly/hehe!)" (by FIJC)
So what exactly is the agenda here? You both claim not to work for Judicial Watch, however you most certainly have a motive for keeping this thread bumped "All this month of May". What, Larry's running short of funds? He needs you to help him keep this IRS audit story front and center while he shreds documents? What? I'm asking here. You posted a comment on a public forum that begs the questions.
You post links to JW that ask for money. I remember on a FReepathon thread one poster wanted to post a picture of a chair that he designed and would donate to the highest bidder, (funds to FR), and JimRob said no. Seems to me that spamming for almost 2000 posts on the EWW falls right in line with using FR to sell your goods.
Any explanations I'm sure would be appreciated.
Just showing that the supposedly best 'eWW' in your opinion and the worst 'convicted criminals' can all be in denial, facts be damned. Just believe brothers and sisters......
I have a great deal of respect for both FreedominJesusChrist and ChaseR. I'm sure that the pressure over at JW has been horrendous lately.
I'm happy to give the 'eWW' all the exposure he can get. If there's nothing to be afraid of then the audit will be clean and he can get on back to his missions of fundraising, filing FOIA, doing a few Amicus briefs, and going on the cruises to fight corruption.... I have to provide my sources of income and why shouldn't a tax exempt non profit also.
No problem. As you can probably tell, I have a hair-trigger temper and no sense of humor. This JW thread has got me all worked up. I may never sleep again.
