Ever made a perfect no-look shot in basketball?
I agree that the accident scenario is unlikely, but it's certainly not impossible.

Smoke seen coming from plane before impact reports: early 4th hand "eye witness" reports relayed via cell phone and in translation about such details have a VERY low reliability factor.

Please note, however, that it crashed in a field, not dead-center into a skyscraper. Noted. But that's like noting that I bought a lottery ticket the other day and I didn't win. However, 3 folks beat the enormous odds and won.
To: Bommer
If it is a terrorist attack, maybe these folks will understand why we want a no tolerance policy towards terrorism and ADVOCATE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT for those guilty of TERRORISM. Three are dead already and many injured.

AERO COMMANDER Do you know the model? Fox News is reporting a Piper Air Commander, which doesn't exist.

CNN quoting local radio 25th and 24th floors gone, that's 3 so far..
To: TankerKC
people that were listening to airwaves said the pilot reported landing gear trouble....
CNN said maybe the pilot was distracted by this and he hit the building..LOL!

I never said it wasn't possible. I am just pointing out the facts here. That's all.

I smell the work of Muhammad and the religion of peace.

JFK could have been hit by an accidental stray shot from a mile away. It's possible.

No reason the guy should be acclerating into a skyscraper.

So, ANY PILOTS WITH IDEAS ON HOW TO HIT A BUILDING, SQUARE ON, STRAIGHT AND LEVEL, ON A CLEAR DAY, BY ACCIDENT? I can't think of any scenario that qualifies as an "accident".

I would say that you are a pilot, is that correct? From reading your posts, it sounds as if you are. Please confirm. ;-)

Sorry guys, but I just don't see how a little piper plane could do that without it having explosives in it. And who would crash-land on a landmark skyscraper????
To: newsperson999
pilot was distracted If you're distracted, you can't fly straight and level. The plane crashed straight and level.

Oh, sh**!

Given the distance from takeoff to impact, if he started with a full tank of fuel, how much fuel would still be in the tank to cause a major explosion in the building? Keep in mind the reports that there was smoke seen from the plane prior to impact.

I think it was fox that stated that another pilot close by said that this was not a Piper model but a larger Aero Commander. Nothing else yet.
