Before 9/11 planes didn't crash into skyscrapers - at least not since 1946. And a good percentage of us so-called tinfoilers who you claim are cowering under our beds were back here at work in Manhattan on 9/12. No, your right, they just crashed into the ground, into mountains, into houses, etc. Maybe that was just luck because most airports aren't in the middle of a bunch of skyscrapers (except Hong Kong), who knows.
The only thing we know, is a plane crashed into a building and people are dead. To spin these elaborate multiple-gunmen on the grassy-knoll theories sounds quite silly.

Payne Stewart's plane flew straight and level with no pilot for more than an hour. That was because it was set on autopilot and operating properly - at high altitude over non-urban terrain. One does not set the autopilot to fly a mere 27 stories above ground directly over a high-rise urban zone.

True...if you let yourself get worked into a frenzy everytime an accident like this happens then the the terrorists have won..THEY HAVE TERRORIZED YOU.
To: ctdonath2
True. More importantly, I've never flown close over it. Has anyone here seen the Vatican from the air? I have flown in and seen it from the surrounding hills, the place is HUGE and can't be missed.

You're full of it. We arent talking about unfortunate accidents. We are talking about mass murder. Well??? Why are you holding out on us? If you know that today's accident was actually mass murder, why aren't you telling us the who/what/when/where/how?????

"Who was flying the plane? Who else was aboard? What kind of plane was it? And don't tell me we KNOW the Swiss geezer was flying it at impact, because we don't. He may have been who the controllers thought was flying the plane, he may have filed some sort of flight plan saying he was flying the plane, he may have been in the plane when it crashed, but under no circumstances can we be sure someone else didn't fly it into that building."
I agree 100% with Hotspur. Luigi was not at controls but may have put up a fight? thus engine or gear problem.

Typical. Italians are killed and your first reaction is to think of Jews and try to score some sort of point or another. Thanks for dragging this forum into the sewer. Larry, I think thou dost protest too much. It was a joke, my friend. I hope that fresh air did you some good.

I have no reason to feel foolish. A few of you do.
But do I care? Not really.

Neither were your assinine comments.

They also keep talking about a Piper. I trust some of the pilots on here over any of the news reports. My husband was a pilot and would always get the cause of an accident right . It may not be a terrorist but it doesn't add up.

They dont hijack old mens planes at random for the hell of it without inflicting catastrophic damage. This compared to 9/11 was a fender bender.

I doubt it......they turned their backs on us......I couldn't care less about Europe...

Before 9/11, people would have been like "poor pilot" and then moved on with their lives. On 9/11, for that first 20 minutes before there was ANY evidence of terrorism (ex.: the second plane), an awful lot of people suspected foul play. Planes just don't accidentally crash into tall buildings on clear sunny days.

In June 1900 an international relief force was dispatched to deal with the growing threat the Boxers posedThanks for the refresher but I was only kidding about the new threat from the 'boxer rebellion' :)

No one is "spinning" anything. People are just putting their thoughts, ideas, knowledge, experience, expertise and etc. together so that we can all draw our own conclusions and/or "theories". Most people are not satisfied with just reading a 5 sentence article from the Italian government and letting it go at that, like you are....it would be a pretty boring 'conversation' as well.
People on FR like to discuss the news and facts -- not just read it. Good day.

I belive you are referring to the 'Occupied Palestine/ Defamation of Relgions' one that passed April 15. Italy did indeed abstain from this one; they were pretty critical of it and said it was biased toward the arab states:

They do if there is a technical malfunction or the pilot becomes incapacitated or unable to control the plane, unless of course you buy into the vast Swiss/Muslim Conspiracy.
To: Delbert
Most of what I am reading on this thread is not foolish frenzy at all. People are asking and trying to answer legitimate questions regarding a current event that is eerily similar to "the event" that changed this country-and the world - permanently.
Italy has been one of America's staunchest allies lately and I, for one, am saddened regarding the loss of life in this incident - whether it is accidental or a terrorist attack.
Your comments and others like them just distract from trying to get facts and input about an "current event."
Go ahead and have fun doing it.
But while there is a place and a time for sick humor and wisecracks, this just does not strike me as one of them. I just don't like hearing / reading jokes about innocents involving dead and injured innocent people...especially after Sept 11th events. We are a world at war, you know.... But that's just probably a personal quirk.
To: texlok
the grassy-knoll theories sounds quite silly. The bottom line is that we don't know who was piloting that plane. We have only "the authorities" word to go on. The same Italian authorities who 2 weeks ago downplayed a credible threat because they were afraid it would hurt tourism.
