I hardly consider labeling her a "whiner" as intellectual criticism. Offering solutions is not an absolute requirement of an academic thesis - sometimes pointing out the problem is the beginning of a solution. Further, you overgeneralize in your comments regarding her work to the point that any rebuttal becomes meaningless. This is exactly the kind of thing for which you've so freely criticized others throughout this thread. Such tactics wouldn't win anybody any friends on either side of the fence, so I wouldn't brag too much about it.

Sorry, we just disagree here. I see simply reiterating a problem over and over as evasive and is quite often part of the problem rather than the beginning of the solution. I do agree that correctly identifying a problem is crucial but if one never takes the next step, and offers suggestions, proposals, a plan... whatever what good is it? Stating the problem once in very specific terms is ok. Stating it over and over in very generalized overarching "blaming" the other guys terms and never offering a solution is IMO whining.

Agreed. And overgeneralizing your comments in support of Sommers has the same effect. I do have specific disagreements with Sommers, but was loathe to get into another long drawn out debate, point by point, on her work as I have on other forums and as I assume you have too. I'm assuming we're both veterans of such debates, so we're nipping around the edges and perhaps don't have the energy to launch into a full blown Sommers debate.
