The statement denounced US policy in the regioon and blamed Powell for the burning alive of Iraqi soldiers during the Gulf War and using depleted uranium warheads, which it said caused "the disability of 136,000 US soldiers.
Apparently they cannot handle the truth.

Excellent comments..a superb analysis....however, I would like to submit for your consideration one factor that I believe you omitted in constructing your arguments...Everything you say about the Arabs is correct..politics, culture, beliefs, except that now
"we may have a small element of radical Arabs, and one nation, that may possess viable weapons of mass destruction and the willingness to use them" I don't beleve that we can igore the possibility.....and that is why all US actions must be evaluted in that context. We have to be highly confident in our ability to identify, target, and capture or destroy all the WMD's that may be in Sadam's or OBL's arsenal....Only then will we move....

It is fascinating to watch the gyrations of people who clearly have a death-wish...

Very good post. Now what do you suppose needs to happen to correct this? What would it take to give the U.S. its 'spine' again?

Thanks for clearing that up. Now your earlier post makes sense in context.
I'm not certain I agree with you in toto, but the parts I disagree with you on (our six-week attention span, and some other minor things) are not worth the several hundred words I think I'd need to fully explain myself.
Thanks again.

This is hysterical! Lots of us on FR think Powell is cowtowing to the Palestinians when he should be treating Arafat like the terrorist he is. And then the Lebonese think he's on Israel's side. LOL!
Folks, this is what we are in store for with the new International Court. We will be vilified even more than we are now for "war crimes" that happened ages ago. Unfortunately for these Arab groups, I don't think anything that occurred before July 1, 2002 (or thereabouts) can come up before the court.
The real problem for Americans is, if the IC accepts charges against the US Government, then any American (soldier or civilian) can be held for trial. That will put us all in danger when traveling abroad.
Ain't the New World Order great! Get the UN out of the US and the US out of the UN!

What this says, and will be remembered in the Middle East for generations, is that we are no longer a superpower. And how can we be: smart bombs do not replace the resolve of the nation. The greatest problem to the world today is that Arabs are still socially and economically in the Middle Ages (or worse), yet they live in a world rich in deadly technology, influential communications (media), and breaky-heart liberals.

Dennis, Top... I would be happy to take the post (13) and clean it up for typos and stuff. Then I can provide it as a .pdf file. I would dearly like to have it sent to every last member of congress, white house, pres, vp, state.... almost any address will work. What do you say?

Ask yourself, what would you feel if, form elementary school onward, you would hear about Jewish doctors in the West bank infecting Arab babies with HIV as participation of experiments, or about Israeli government poisoning wells and rivers, etc.? I most certainly would be in rage. Now I ask myself, how do I feel about my chances of survival, given the education our children are indoctrinated with in this country, from elementary school onward.
Arab rage versus feminized, politically corrected fat whiners, filled with phony guilt about imaginary "crimes".

Take a bow T.Q.,...Fouad Ajami would nod approvingly.
In my "Great Speeches" folder.
Daniel Pipes commented to a interviewer.."They[Islam] mean to do ..everything they say".
Extortion and deciet are directional values ..layered thru-out the Quran.
They are intereim mechanisms which pre-and post- direct military conflict.
We are "AL Harb" [House of War] to them..and they speak accordingly to us.
Papal Rome tried every trick in the book to control Islam..concordants..Papal Bulls...land exchange,..it all failed.
If a Papal Legit from the Crusades period was wisked ahead to our time..and saw the gathered gyrating masses of Islam..he would comment.."Your doomed...there commin"!
The U.S. State Dept..CFR think tank experts, statedgize that Islam can be controlled..and modified via financial bargining, economic relations and promisary futures.
They are making the same fatal error as Papal Rome.

I am a bit overwhelmed by the positive response to my post, and thank you all again for the kind words.
I am a bit jet-lagged, and the post contains more typos than usual (sigh). Do you mind if I make one more editintg pass before turning it over to you? I should be able to get to it in a couple of hours.
