April 17, 2002 -- For days, Palestinian, U.N. and aid-group officials declared flatly that Israeli troops had perpetrated a horrendous massacre of innocent civilians at the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.

Once outside observers were allowed into the camp, they charged, it would be clear that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's soldiers had committed a monstrous war crime that would eclipse the killing fields of Kosovo.

Jenin refugees dig five survivors from rubble

JENIN REFUGEE CAMP, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinians dug five survivors from the rubble of the shattered refugee camp in Jenin on Thursday and said they had heard others crying out for help, witnesses said.

"We found five people, who were taken to Jenin hospital in very bad state," resident Naim Awais told Reuters in the camp, hours after Israeli tanks and troops withdrew, leaving snipers on the outskirts.

"There were two boys, a woman and two men," he said, adding that they appeared to have suffered burns and other injuries.

"I have heard many people asking for help, but we can't do anything for them because we have no equipment," he said, as camp residents clawed through rubble with shovels and pickaxes.

Fierce fighting between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen eased off last weekend after the bloodiest clashes of Israel's three-week-old West Bank offensive.

Nah, there couldn't be more bodies underneath the tons of rubble. Why, that would give credit to Palistinian claims!

No it wouldn't, since the Palestinians have been claiming mass executions and mass graves. They were claiming tens of thousands of dead. I am positive that there ARE bodies under the rubble, but I am also positive that the number will be laughably small compared to the claims that were made when they were under fire and wanted it to stop. Finding bodies in collapsed buildings will not give any credence to the Palestinian claims--unless they find thousands of them buried in a mass grave.

And I'm surprised people are still falling for it. These people lie like dogs after dinner. One of them told me last week that Sharon and his soldier had killed a thousand innocent Muslims during that trip to the Temple Mount. Easily disproven, but he repeats it anyway (and repeats it knowingly, IMO). In a way it's a refreshing piece of honesty--any fool knows the visit itself was no justification for the intifada, so they invent a tale of massacre among themselves and agree to pretend that it's true...
