Another one of my unsubstantiated factoids based on memory:: Years ago, early-mid 90's, an imam in the UK created quite a fuss when he claimed that the English Police had no jurisdiction over Muslim 'citizens' of the UK. This may have been after arrests because of riots or whatever. --Don't remember how it all turned out.

I seem to recall that as well, I think it's still a touchy subject in certain areas of England with police.
