Smith may try again and not be so wacko. He may try "reasonable" gun control next time. Not in THAT city, it seems like. :o)
It looks like gun control is a Chicago-only phenomenon. Statewide it will not play. If it cannot even get ONE vote besides the sponser in a suburb only a few miles from Chicago, gun control in Illinois ain't going anywhere.
We may not make PROGRESS for a little while -- no CCW or State Premption -- but we will not LOSE ground!

The problem is that Chicago and outlying communities, by dint of their ever swelling populations, will soon - if they don't already - have more political pull in Springfield than the downstate folk. If you've got 100 state reps, and 60 of 'em are from the "city," and the other 40 are from places like Clinton and Carbondale, the city libs will most likely be able to have their way with legislation. The soccer moms and race hustlers from Chicago, Peoria and Bloomington-Normal will essentially guarantee the Democrats anything they ask for.
