Don´t we have the right to expect more from Americans?´ Like the second crowing of the cock that brought home the reality to the Apostle Peter that he had just denied his Lord, that question should sear American souls with shame and sorrow.
The question was asked by Yossi Klein Halevi, an Israeli correspondent for the New Republic, in an article entitled, Does the World Prefer It When Jews Are Victims?´ In the article, he reveals that Israelis have long since given up on Europeans as hopeless appeasers, but that they expected something better from Americans.
Amazing, really, that Israelis expect anything other than crass political self-interest from the U.S., considering that in 1948, when they fought alone against all the surrounding Arab states, and established through their own blood their independent Jewish state, we remained neutral.´ Likewise in 1967 and 1973, when they were again assailed by the might of the entire Arab world, we stood aloof, involving ourselves only after the brief war was decided, and at the behest of the Soviets, who demanded we restrain´ the Israelis, who had made short work of all those Soviet tanks, planes and Soviet-trained armies.
Sound familiar? The Arabs initiate attacks and murder and when Israel responds to dismantle the terrorist cells, the Arabsalong with the increasingly disgusting Europeans and the usual Third World suspectsprevail upon the U.S. to call for restraint´ from Israel. And make no mistake, here, the Palestinians may want a homeland, but they are in their position precisely because the Arabs detest the Jews, and are using Palestinians as a weapon against them. The Arabs will not allow Palestinians citizenship in their countries, forcing them instead into refugee campsyes, just like the ones in Israelwhich serve as breeding grounds for suicide bombers and jihad warriors. The Palestinians are but a tool, and they know it; they know they can´t expect anything from their Arab brothers´not their own homeland, not even a welcome to existing Arab statesnothing except weapons with which to terrorize the hated Jews. Such is the hopelessness that creates young suicide bombers.
Today Israel, a nation of less than 7 million, faces over 500 million rabidly hate-filled Arabs, still as intent on their destruction as they were in those earlier wars.
After 18 months of murder and terror against its civilian population, Israel is finally going after the brutal terrorists who plan, arm and launch their murderous plots from the West Bank and Gaza
just as we went after terrorists in Afghanistan. For 3,000 murdered U.S. citizens, we have declared war on the entire terrorist world. Yet the terrorist murders in Israel the past eighteen months would equate to 20,000 deaths in the U.S
.and our President is pressuring them to withdraw?!
Typically, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has sarcastically asked whether the whole world can be wrong and only Israel right. Mr. Annan´s arrogant and self-serving belief that the entire world can´t be wrong is ironic, considering that it was in this same land, Israel, where the entire world´ helped murder the innocent man Jesus. But Annan and the Europeans probably don´t even see that act as wrong,´ any more than the savagery and psychopathic obsession of the Palestinians and Arabs to annihilate Israel.
And now Annan wants to send U.N. troops into Palestinian towns, to protect them from Israeli aggression.´ I guess Annan doesn´t want his U.N. forces blown to smithereens in Israeli markets and cafes by Palestinian suicide bombs. And already there are calls for investigations´ (read: kangaroo courts) by the U.N.´s new International Criminal Court into Israel´s aggression.´ No, Israel can´t look to this mob of Third World thugs and socialists for support, or even fairness.
Because we´ve sent arms, technology and aid to Israel, we´re labeled as Israel´s protector.´ That´s also ironic, considering that the ones we´re really protecting by our choke-chain on the Israeli military are the Palestinians and Arabs, as one wag recently wrote. If the U.S. were not involved as a governing force on the Israelis, this conflict would have been long-since settled, the same way the earlier wars were. Unable to fight Israel, the Arabs use terrorism to bleed her slowly, hoping to weaken her resolve, knowing the U.S. won´t allow the retaliation their terrorism deserves. It´s much the same strategy the North Vietnamese used effectively against the U.S., counting on public opinion to restrain our military, and it worked.
But there´s a major flaw in that ointmentthe U.S. was half a world away from the killing, but Israel is surrounded by murderous enemies sworn to annihilate them. In its struggle to survive, Israel can´t afford to weaken. So all the talk about land for peace´ is meaningless; there will be no peace in the Middle East unless Israel is destroyed and every Jew is dead or deported
or unless something makes the Arabs see and finally accept the futility of their ongoing crusade against the existence of Israel.
That something´ could be
should be
the clear and unequivocal stand of the U.S. with the nation of Israel. We should make it our policy to offerinstead of calls for restraint and demands for withdrawalonly our full diplomatic and, if requested, military support of actions that they deem necessary to their safety and survival. Our quavering temerity and pandering to the Arab world, which has only Jewish blood on its mind, serves only to prolong and intensify the violence, no matter our talk of peace.´
Only months ago we stunned the clamoring thugs of the world into silence with a show of principled force and military might. All the threats of the Arab street´ and U.N. sanctions were quelled before the awesome reality of our awakened resolve. And that´s what tyrants challenge; they know they can ´t stand before our military power. It´s our resolve, which the world has seen waver time and again. The clear demonstration of that resolve on the side of Israel would stop the fighting in the Middle East tomorrow. The Israelis know it; the Arabs especially know it, and delight in our moral weakness and cowardice. And most Americans know it, too.
We went to Europe in World War I when the Kaiser threatened to overwhelm them, and again rescued that continent in World War II when Hitler overran them. For all our failures and wrong actions, the U.S. is still the one nation in the entire world that everyone expects to ultimately do the right thing. That´s the something better´ that Mr. Halevi and the Israelis were expecting from us. Though we´ve often stumbled, and sometimes mightily, there is no other nation in the world to whom the weak can look for help, to whom the peaceful democratic nations can call when beset by murderous tyrants and terrorists.
Instead of being that nation, though, we now join the Europeans and Third World goons in demanding restraint from Israel as they struggle to simply live.
Our actions provide a perfect glimpse of America´s futurewe have joined the appeasers. Take a look at Europe today; that´s what the U.S. will be tomorrow. In our headlong plunge into I´m-not-responsible, government-fixes-all socialism, we´ve abandoned the traditional American values of independence and courage, so we won´t stand with courageous Israel against the vultures that assail them. We´ve left behind our individualism and identification with the underdog, and are now skulking along with a murderous crowd, just as another shameful crowd once howled for another´s death in that same place.
This country has forsaken all that the Founding Fathers established, and has become like Europesoulless, no moral foundation, blown by the wind of political expediency, unable and unwilling even in such a clear case to stand for the right, and against evil hatred and the intimidation of terror. We have become Bosnia, Uganda; we are Euro-America, consumed with ethnic and sexual identity, instead of justice and moral decency. Distracted by tiny factions demanding rights´ no human deserves, we no longer recognize that there even is an objective right and wrong. We stopped teaching our children moral absolutes, abandoning them instead to the government´s nannies in our failed schools, where they´re not educated but indoctrinated with the moral relativism our country now displays. As we´ve forgotten the Founding principles, we´ve disintegrated into fragments of what was once a great nation. If we´ll abandon our own children to a false and deadly ideology, to an amoral and degrading lowest-common-denominator equality,´ it´s no surprise that we´d abandon Israel.
No, you can´t expect better from Americans, Mr. Halevi, not any more. Just as we as a nation have forgotten the G-d Who blessed us, we´ve now also abandoned His people. Peter at least acknowledged his denial of Jesus, but we don´t even recognize our betrayal of what we once believed, of what we once were. We´ve lost even the shame that should drive us to bitter tears.

Shame & guilt. Techniques of right motivation among Jewish (guilt) and Gentile (Shame) mothers used effectively for centuries.
We mom's on booth sides don't seem to be as skilled as our wonderful ancestral moms were. We used to pay lip service
to the hand that rocks the cradle.......oh well!
This article, unfortunately, re-inforces the notion of "Jew as whiner."
Nah. Scates stands on a street corner, wringing his hands, while Israel moves forward, protecting itself.
Israel is not the pitiful supplicant Scates paints them to be.
The Democrat, while one of the worst Clintonite apologists, is a Jewish Democrat representing a Jewish congressional district (southeast Florida, land of the dimpled chads). The Republican is an Arab from California. Kind of explains things, doesn't it.
I'm not sure, but I think that Hannity and Colmes each has their own producers to put segments together. I guess that they can justify this sort of thing as 'man bites dog', but I'll bet that it was Colmes's team that put this together.
That's for sure. Since he called Arafat a terrorist, I guess he was toning down his usual Islamist slant for the Fox audience. Strange that he is a Christian, so far as I know.
Had to be.
They have been forced to accept MORTAL ENEMIES being given a parcel of land in the midst of their own country.
Would the USA even agree to such a notion?
The reason the PALI's have to live there, is that their 'friends', the ARAB NATIONS, will not allow them to live in any of the ARAB COUNTRIES. WHY? Because the ARABS know the PALI's would cause a problem for the JEWS, if forced to live in ISRAEL, and so would be doing the ARABS dirty-work for them.
I.E. Force a third-party to attack your enemy, so you can look innocent.
The ARABS won't give the PALI's any LAND, FOOD, or MONEY, but does give them WEAPONS and forces them to live in the middle of ISRAEL.
The result is unbelievable tension, and finally a breakdown into suicide bombings, and military action.
The Israeli's are tired of having their children's heads blown off, and have taken action. (Just like the US did)
NOW, exactly where are they being uncivilized??????
