Germany also has a symbol of outstretched wings. I have read the Isaiah 18 ideas pro and con, and lean toward pro. But it is pretty clear that the pro side is willing to stretch a bit to get there. To me the Isaiah 14-18 series is a description of the Middle East and Nuclear war, with the humbling of America thrown in. I think far too many liberal ideas have spoiled a beautiful nation, when we are willing to sacrifice our children on the altar of convenience, and allow any religion taught in schools except the religion that was the foundation of our nation. I feel anybody has the freedom to choose what god they will worship, and will pay the price for their choice or refusal to choose. It is pretty clear that the ones who gained control under the banner of freedom, are working very hard to deny that freedom now to Christians. Seems they were liars, and the war with Islam is waking us up to liars. CS Lewis said he though war was good for the nation, for fat cat happiness lead to spiritual death, but the stress of war made man examine himself. That is what I think the description of America held captive to a season of air superiority and followed by a season of ground occupation is for. To get America to once again submit to the authority of God, instead of worshiping freedom over God. America will repent, and will survive as a nation in the millennium. Few other nations will. The Eee Uuu is toast.

That is my very amateur read of the prophecies. Leave it to the heavy weights to battle it out, I am no prophet.

I have really appreciated the honest discussion and views. None of us claim the title Prophet it is good to see so many searching and studying and being in the word.

I am doing a self-study of Isaiah right now, and I have just finished ch 20. The chapters you mention, are not talking about America at all. Specifically, in ch. 18, the topic is Ethiopia, and you can even throw in present-day Sudan. The other chapters discuss Babylon and Damascus, at the time of the Lord's Day, the last day of this age and the 1st day of the millenium.

A better place to find the USA is Eze ch 38, 39, and Obadiah, though there are many many more.
