I guess those Pali terrorists are as durable as Mick Jagger.According to the latest report, the man was 26, not sixty, and was shot next door to the church, not inside it.
Oh well, I guess it's DARK in that church, so the reliable witnesses (cough) are having some difficulty in accurately reporting what they claim is right in front of their eyes...

It is important to remember that the Church of the Holy Nativity is the oldest living church in continuous use in the world. The Persians destroyed all Christian churches in the Holy Land but this one -- and so it is a living legacy of that native Christian witness that so many have tried to erase from the Holy Land.

Actually I knew that the Israelis had admitted that they had shot the monk. It was the rest of your post that I was objecting to. If you say that there are no hostages, then the nuns must be harboring terrorists, that makes them the enemy, also. As for the church? I don't really have much concern for relics of any religion, if they are being used for evil purposes. But tear gas ought to do nicely, without damaging anything.

No, Phil, I said the Church of the Nativity would be a smoking hole in the ground. We can be very precise with laser-guided 2000 pound bombs.
The U.S. does have other means available. Take a look at the Time Magazine cover from the embassy hostage rescue in Peru - the one that was done by "an elite Peruvian anti-terrorist team" which appeared and then mysteriously disappeared.
Take a look at the hooded team members, six of them IIRC, all of them startled by the camera and looking up at it. Take a look at the unmasked Peruvians around them, that come up to their shoulders. Then take a look at the eyes of the Peruvians; all dark brown/black. Then at the eyes of the team members. Three brown (one light), two green and one blue.
That wouldn't be feasible with the Church of the Nativity unless we remove everyone from all the buildings for about 1000 - 1500 meters around.

You realy got to cut back on that LSD little armchair terrorist. You gotta have enough brain left to press the button and get your chance to that big whorehouse in the sky. Translation: "I do not agree with Sobieski"

No, Phil, I said the Church of the Nativity would be a smoking hole in the ground. We can be very precise with laser-guided 2000 pound bombs. Yes. You quote yourself accurately.
I have been equally clear and unambiguous. Your assertion that OUR military would take out the Church of the Nativity Is as grotesque insult to my country, my military AND my Commander in Chief. We would find ways other than 2000 lb bombs to deal with the situation - just as Israel is doing. That you seriously BELIEVE as you do is troubling. You, as a mater of fact, have a gentleman's bet with one of your friends WRT the timing of "glasification" of the area. IMHO you are one sick dude. As long as you're in the betting business why not make some money. Go to Vegas. Check out the line on Armageddon. Be a GOOD American. Make some money on this F*&^ed up mess.

Look if the monks and nuns are willingly harboring terrorists, that makes them terrorists as well. I am not saying that I believe you, though, that the monks would be dumb enought to side with the Palestinian murders.

if Osama was in that church I certainly hope we'd blow it up instead of risking the lives of millions of Americans.

He got this "info" directly from Arafat's speech (by cellphone) to an Egyptian audience yesterday. Arafat declared that his groups were "protecting" holy places (Christian and Islamic) from the Israelis. It's the latest Arafat spin, and obviously goes down well with some.

Only after it was destroyed did the Germans occupy the position. Phil V is wrong about saying the US wouldn't destroy churches. Of course, the reason the US would destroy churches is the same reason the US supports Israel. Repeat a lie often enough...?
There was enough certainly by the neighboring inhabitants that permission from the Vatican was requested (and obtained) before Monte Casino was bombed. Some of us know that.
When was the last time the Muslim Mass Murderers even paused to think before destroying the churches of other faiths?
Nice try though.
Got to give you propagandists credit for persistence.

. Phil V is wrong about saying the US wouldn't destroy churches . . .I was PERFECTLY CLEAR. I did NOT suggest that we have not or would not level a church. I said that we would not level The Church of the Nativity. There are churches and then THERE IS A VERY SPECIAL CHURCH that the U.S. military would spend lives protecting. There Are other ways to deal with the situation. Israel is doing reasonably well under the circumstances.
Suggestions that THIS church is just another church deserving no extra measure of reverence is DISGUSTING. . . . and idiotic.

I hope they go after them. Just think, they are calling for help from the Pope, UN and US after a rampage of terror. Sounds right to me. SAVE THE TERRORISTS.HA!
