Last I heard, the monk was only wounded (shot in shoulder) and was evacuated to a hospital. Did he die in secret or something?
To: sobieski
You sound like you are automatically willing to assume the worst about the Israelis. What do you think about the terrorists that are causing this whole situation by holding priests and nuns hostage in the Church of the Nativity? Do you consider them to be freedom fighters who are only having to temporarily defile a holy site?

DAL does NOT support Bush. He and the Dems are bent on having him be a one termer.

I had heard the monk died, if not, my apologies. But it's the shooting that counts, not how accurate the shooter is.

I am not assuming the worst. They are protecting our holy sites.

Mazen Hussein, a Palestinian policeman inside the church, said a 60-year-old civilian inside had been hit by two gunshots in the chest. So whats this guy doing in there? Kind of old for a pizza delivery boy. Hummmm

The monks are hostages. Hostages sometimes die. Why don't the Palis release them?
To: sobieski
Given that the
monk was wounded and not killed, it does sound like you are willing to believe the worst about the Israelis.
To: Thud
The US would have turned the Church of the Nativity into a smoking hole in the ground a week ago. thud, if you REALLY believe that claptrap then, please, do not bother to call me to such bullshit.

You're right. The bombing yesterday happened to see what Powell was made of. Today we and Arafat found out that he and Bush are made of mush.
1) Game---Arafat bombing of Israelis in Jerusalem
2) Set---Arafat "favorably" responds to US urging to denounce terrorism to get his endorsement meeting with Powell and more international aid.
3) Match---Arafat gets more international sympathy by blaming Israel for starting more fighting at the Church of the Nativity.

You certainly seem to dislike Israelis because you haven't said a word on this thread about the Palestinian terrorists that are causing the outrage that is occurring at the Church of the Nativity. Hmmmmm, I wonder why?
To: sobieski
PS How do you know what's in the IDF's interest? They are on a rampage. One might as well say the US is on a "rampage" as well. Except our rampage extended to the other side of the globe using almost all of our weaponry save wmd. Israel's rampage involves house to house searches and a few tanks. Terrorism by homocide bombers can do that to a country.

Before the World compelled Israel to turn over Bethlehem to the savages, there were no gun fights at or near Christian holy sites. Christians had there unimpeded access for any worship and many joyful Christmases.
But the World considers Bethlehem an Arab city and under preassure Israel gave it to them.
One curiosity. Why does an Arab city have a Hebrew name?

But it's the shooting that counts, not how accurate the shooter is.It's the shooting that counts to you, obviously. I believe the monk might, at this moment, care very much more about the accuracy of the shooter.
You almost sound disappointed that the monk wasn't shot dead, sobieski. Leave out the "but" in such explanations, to avoid confusion in future.

I said that the journalists are being kept outI'd say that this is the best move any free, democratic society could make in the 21st century.

An Israeli army spokesmen said he was not aware of any incident but would check the report. He said Israeli soldiers were instructed not to fire at the church even if shots came from inside. How does this translate into the IDF admitting that they hit the "civilian?"
To: Democrats are liars
Well ... I believe Powell has a message to deliver to Arafat. And ... you don't want to be on the receiving end of one of GW's messages, believe me - you don't.

You can support the Republican Party and not agree with 101% of what Bush is doing
