We have use of a naval pier and the Shaikh-Isa Air field in Bahrain. So far.

*Mr Al Huwaihi also stressed the importance of boycotting American products to try to pressurise America into a policy of fairness instead of one of support for the Israelis.
To Hell with them if they don't like America or American policy.

They like America and have been a good ally. Bahrain sent a frigate to help us off the coast of Pakistan. They don't like Israel and the more we are seen as the power behind the IDF, the less they will like us. That airfield came in handy both in the Gulf War and Afghanistan. You can't land C-5's on aircraft carriers.

Bahrain is Arab, but with a majority Shi'ite population. The ruling class is Shia. A reason why there have been protests there is because Iran is ordering them, for it's own show of power and other reasons. they attacked the American embassy there recently, in familiar Iranian fashion.
See those yellow flags? That's the flag of Hezbollah. The same flag seen with the Shi'ite Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon when they attack Israel.

Thanks. I wondered who the government of Bahrain was referring to when it mentioned "outside agitators" in other stories.

You ever been to Bahrain? I have. They don't like us. They like our dollars when were in port, but would much rather see our servicemen dead.Given the choice, they'll take our dollar first, then kill us.

Never been there. A relative flies in often. Think we might lose it as a base?

Daisy Cutter Telethon Bump. My God, I just don't get what these people do instead of thinking...Israel is just too strong!
LIGHT BULB MOMENT-I just realized what I think I'm the last person on this site to figure out...The Rag governments are taking a direct cue from Nazism and using hatred to distract the proles from the totalitarian regimes they live under...its Bread and Circuses! The counter to that is Psyops...We've got to frame the Arab papers or the Mullahs with something that demonstrates conclusively that the fatcats at the top are cynical scumbags not unlike the liberal press here. Its slower than turning them all into a red mist, but its a good use of US ingenuity...We put a man on the moon, and proved that Michael Jackson and Latoya are the same person...we can do this!

Finally, some Arab is urging a peaceful demonstration. I have no problem with that.
Maybe they ought to convince their Pallie brethren to try a little non-violent protest instead of encouraging their youth to blow themselves to smithereens.

They hate you and me because we are Americans. I don't know a single Bahrainian and I am sure I didn't offend anyone from that country.
What did you do to piss them off? And, if you didn't do anything to offend them, who from our country did?

I fear it's going to be the U.S. and Israel vs. the rest of the world. I fear it's going to be WW2 all over again except it's going to be "capitalists(Americans) and jews". I still think we have the odds on our side.
To: LarryLied
Thanks for the ping, Larry--I understand things have settled down somewhat over there. It saddened me to hear that conditions had deteriorated since it's such a lovely country. I realize they would sympathize with their fellow Arabs against Israel, but I still think the citizenry isn't as anti-American as many of their bretheren are. Three Bahrainis have been killed in the protests. The leadership there is a monarchy but the late amir wisely invested the oil money in education, health care and infrastructure, as they have virtually run out of oil.

"All those sand monkeys in one place"
Don't sugar coat it. Call them what they are. Terroists, and terrorist supporters. Besides, Sand Monkeys sounds like you are imparting a racist spin, which is immature.
