I would just love it if he told the Israelis to go after Arafat with our blessings and went home.

FNC just announced the AP story. They're saying this word is from the State Department. Fleisher wouldn't deny it in his daily press briefing either--Ari's saying something to the effect that Powell has been granted wide latitude the Prez to do what he sees fit.

It sounds like they might be threatening Arafat that the meeting will be cancelled unless he "pubicly denounces terrorism" first.

This is a no brainer ... any meeting with Arafat at this time, or any time, would be seen as an endorsement of his terrorist activity.

If true and if implemented, it would be the first smart thing that Powell has said all week.

Pay a visit to an Israeli army camp and support the boys and take a couple of weeks off, Colin.

That's assuming Powell would come to his sense. Its a tall order. Maybe Arafat will blow up a homocide bomber alongside Powell's motorcade. You never know.

Gee, it's almost like "W" and company have been buying Israel time.

They better get their act together because it looks like we may have been jerking the Arabs chains around. And we would not want to do that. They may get mad. And they never lie. No, never. /sarcasm off

I just sent an email to the White House. I just put in the subject area: Don't Allow Powell to Meet with Arafat.

Enough of this TALK, you have to get their attention first. We got Japan's attention with two atom bombs. That is what is needed here.

How are we going to regain our credibility in the war against the Islamic Jihadists

Powell going home without a meeting with Arafat would be a good start. Telling Arafat and the PA that we will support with military forces if the Suicide bombings do not end would be better. If you really wanna win the hearts of true Americans then you close the USA boarders to all countries with terrorist activity.

I'm sick of the press talking about "Powell's mission of peace." What a joke. It should be called "Powell's mission to get Arafat out of seige and back into his post of unsupervised Hamas leader."

FoxNews just confirmed that Powell may cancel the meeting with his pal Arafag.

Powell Reconsiders Arafat Meeting >p? By BARRY SCHWEID
AP Diplomatic Writer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JERUSALEM (AP) — His peacekeeping mission rocked by a terrorist bombing, Secretary of State Colin Powell was reconsidering whether to meet with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on Saturday, a U.S. official said.

Just hours after a suicide bomber struck near a Jerusalem marketplace Friday, the White House called on Arafat to publicly denounce the terrorist act and the State Department said Powell would decide later whether to see Arafat as planned.

``He's looking at the whole situation in terms of the bombing and everything,'' State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.

The White House called on Arafat to make a public statement denouncing terror. ``Yasser Arafat needs to come out and publicly condemn today's attack,'' White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said. ``This is terrorism. This is murder and Yasser Arafat needs to denounce it soon.''

Earlier in the day, Powell failed to get Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to agree on a timetable for withdrawing Israeli troops from Palestinian cities and towns.

Not long after the Powell-Sharon meeting, an explosion triggered by a suicide bomber went off near Jerusalem's outdoor market, killing at least six people and injuring 84.

Powell going home without a meeting with Arafat would be a good start.

Firing Powell outright would be even better. Powell might do okay during peacetime activities when there isn't much going on. But he's worse than worthless now. He's downright dangerous.
