BUSH/ASHCROFT REWARDED MIAMI INS DIRECTOR WITH PROMOTION TO REGIONAL DIRECTOR POSITION
Robert Wallis Admits Proudest Moment of His Life Was When INS Agent Held Shotgun To Peaceful Protesters Head During Illegal Raid On Elian Gonzalezs Family Home In Miamis Little Havana
(Miami) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, took the sworn testimony of Robert Wallis today, wherein the former Miami INS director revealed that he was selected for promotion to Regional INS Director and transferred to Texas in April 2001, under the Bush Administration and Attorney General John Ashcroft.
Wallis admitted, under examination by Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman, that the proudest moment of his life was captured in an Associated Press photograph of INS Supervisory Special Agent Gwenn Reed holding a shotgun to the head of a prone and spread-eagle protestor Mario Miranda during the illegal INS raid to return young Elian Gonzalez to Communist Cuba. Mr. Miranda is a retired Miami police officer and was responsible for safety and security around the Gonzalez home. Wallis testimony came during a Merit Systems Protection Board hearing for INS whistleblower and Judicial Watch client Rick Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez blew the whistle on anti-Cuban and anti-Hispanic bigotry in the Miami INS office, as well as INS supervisors orders to destroy all documents and computer records concerning the Elian Gonzalez saga. Earlier testimony from INS attorney Diana Alvarez confirmed that the orders to destroy documents and records came from INS Commissioner Doris Meissner.
Wallis confirmed that he was aware of Mr. Ramirezs whistleblower disclosures, and of the pervasive anti-Cuban and anti-Hispanic bigotry in the Miami INS office.
Judicial Watch, as counsel for Special Agent Ramirez, has made repeated requests for over one year to Attorney General Ashcroft, asking that he take action in this matter.
It is shocking that rather than take steps to clean out the Miami office of anti-Cuban and Hispanic prejudice, that instead Ashcroft and his Bush administration rewarded, with a promotion, the district director responsible for the prejudice. This shows insensitivity to the rights of Hispanics, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
Sorry to disagree, but things like this happen because GWB has left a ton of Clintonites in important offices. The first thing he needed to do was get rid of that human excrement. And BTW, Lou Hourishi still gets paid to murder American citizens.
There is a set course of action to file grievances within the system, the fact that Larry either didn't take the time to learn them, or didn't really care to, says a lot about Larry as an attorney.
Rick Ramirez is bound to observe regulations until he exhausts all resources, a good lawyer would have advised him of this, and been waiting to file that suit ONCE all internal venues had been exhausted.
Not before he had is FIRST internal hearing like JW did.
What grounds would one use to do anything to him?
This promotion took place MONTHS ago, long before this case had been heard.
You are right, the President of the US should spend time rewieving departamental promotions at all levels of government, instead of worrying about the economy, his nominees to Federal Courts, the war on Terrorism...
Or, I could use your sort of logic and come to the conclusion that maybe Bush doesn't like Fox as much as you claim that he does....
No, the GWB administration refused to allow him from being tried. The man is a murderer, he killed a woman who was holding a baby in her hands. There is no excuse for such a person being in the employment of the US government. Further, the government had to pay mega-bucks for what happened there and as far as I know, not one person has been fired, been punished or failed to be promoted on account of it.
And haven't you heard about the Mexican truckers coming through the very same Central Region, being given inspection waivers so they can drive on our roads with faulty brakes?
That's not exactly the truth...
"Recently, murder charges against the prime shooter, Lon Horiuchi, were dropped by the new Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney (known as the District Attorney in many other places in America), Brett Benson. The charges had been pending for years, while the federal judicial system ruminated over whether Horiuchi could be prosecuted by the State of Idaho. Finally, earlier this year, the green light was given by a federal judge. Horiuchi, the federal sniper who boasted of being able to hit a dime at a hundred yards, would stand trial for shooting Randy Weaver's wife, Vicky, in the head as she stood behind a door with her baby in her arms. She fell where she stood, shot by Horiuchi from much less than his claimed "perfect accuracy" range."
If by GWB, you meant the Federal government, they gave clearance for the State to try Horiuchi, the State did not.
I am sure there is a good reason on why they took the action at the time they did.
P-U-B-L-I-C-I-T-Y.....
Got it?
That's the second time you've tried to use that bit of twisted logic.
Are you saying that when one retains an attorney, the attorney waits for you to tell him how to proceed?
If I come to an attorney, explain whatever problem I may have, I expect that attorney to tell me what we should do!
Is that an earth shattering revelation?
When Rick Ramirez approached Larry, Larry, as his attorney, should have researched and adviced him of the proper procedures to follow.
