"Blogging"? New designation in the L.A. Times article for internet sites like Chronwatch.
It's news to us that sites like Chronwatch have been labeled as "blogs". But, it's heartening to see that the phenomenon is growing and is getting more popular. It also gives the CW editor some satisfaction that he isn't alone in desperately seeking an alternative to "Letters to Editor" that have no impact. For sure, we aren't as popular as some of the sites mentioned, but we're still working on our format and on getting more contributors to write articles.
TOPICS: Editorial; News/Current Events; US: California
KEYWORDS: blogging; liberalmedia
The liberal media establishment is plummeting faster than anyone knows!!! This site (Chronwatch) is driving one of the most liberal papers imaginable, the San Francisco Chronicle, out of their minds. Why? They rewrite and identify what the Chronicle refuses to cover. Great fun and worth a look. There's a link to the Chronicle from the Chronwatch main page (www.chronwatch.com), see for yourself.

I must confess, I'm reading a lot more Weblogs these days (try
this link for example), and find their writing and content far more interesting than what I've seen here in awhile.
'Blogs actually force people to string together sentences into a coherent, well-reasoned argument longer than six words, which seems to be the usual length of an FR posted reply.

Would someone please explain to me the meaning (and/or context) of "blog"? Thanks in advance.

Is " 'blogs " pronounced as one sylable? Like, rhymes with "logs" or "jogs"? Is it just a truncation or contraction of "weblog"?

Yes, even though the syllables of the original word 'weblog' are separated thusly; web:log; the term 'blog' has only one syllable.
