Here's an idea: On the day of the opening, a bunch of guys in Seattle should drive up to the theater, grab those 2 guys, throw them in back of a station wagon and let 'em out in a field 40 miles away. And write "GET A LIFE" on the back window.

Unlikely. It's a shame, though, that they seem not to have gotten the new trailer into theaters. It looks like a different movie. It isn't that whiney, pouty, "Obi Wan is holding ma BACK!!!" one. THIS one actually looks like a movie worth watching! Lucas could never be Tolkien in his wildest dreams, but he can give a fun time, and this second trailer looks like he just might.

And in all fairness, how much are we supposed to like Anakin? After all, he does grow up to be Mr. Ho-pahhh, ho-pahhh.

Harry on aintitcoolnews.com has seen an early cut, and says it rocks. I'll keep an open mind. The scene where Jar-Jar is blown out an airlock alone will be worth the price of admission!

Oh! Should I have said SPOILERS! Agh, my bad....

Nnnnnnnot really. You and I would love it... and child psychologists across the continent would love it too, for all those traumatized little kids who actually like the beast.

Meeso thought Episode I was soooo stupid when they had a VIRGIN BIRTH!

Hey, try Christianity instead of rip-off screen writers on cocaine. The tale of Christ is fact and it saves your soul.

Bumping our shameless hijacking... I don't believe aintitcool news - I think they're paid to give those reviews by certain people. And I wish you were right about spacing Jar-Jar. I'd pay full price to see that!

Oh, I don't agree, for a rarity. I've been reading Harry for years. I think he's giving his real opinion on this.

Phantom Menace was, literally, the worst movie I have ever seen.

Phantom Menace was greatly misunderstood. It was a FAR more subtle movie than any of the others, and will only be best understood in context, preferably watched with episode 2 immediately in tow. It is MUCH less of an action movie than a movie about political maneuverings, althought it included action to try and satisfy those who were expecting it (it failed to do so). In that sense, it was really almost more of a movie for adults than for kids.

While I'm not surprised at the number of kids, and even the general public, who failed to grasp the subtleties, I am a bit surprised that some of those were lost on so many Freepers...

The entire movie leads up to and revolves around one single moment, which is, if you ask me, one of the quintessential climaxes of subtlety in movie history: the moment at which the Queen (or her decoy) stands in the Senate Chamber and calls for a vote of no confidence in the existing Chancellor. This is the one instant about which the entire movie turns.

The scene where Jar-Jar is blown out an airlock

Darn. I was hoping he would share the fate of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Yeah, but the Black Knight had two things Jar Jar never had:
  1. Courage
  2. Stamina
...but it'd be nice to see him try!

The trouble with this is that there are just so many ways I'd like to see JarJar done away with. The airlock thing, of course. And the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. And what would happen if that prehensile tongue got stuck in an electric socket? They do have electric sockets, R2D2 ran afoul one. Not that any of this will happen; all the brats that were raised on Teletubbies and Barney the Purple Puke would be terminally traumatised.

Who was the main character, well Jar-Jar Binks of course! Why else was it so crappy?

Now I will admit that, while overall, I felt the movie was much better than many thought, JarJar was a bit annoying.

Can I get in on this?

Does anyone remember the scene in Jurassic Park The Lost World where the dinosaur stepped on this guy, and he got stuck to the dinosaur's foot, and we had this nice view from behind the dinosaur of him getting squashed... squashed... squashed...?

That's my nomination (updated technologically to some sort of war-drone robot, of course) for The Fate of Jar-Jar.

Absolutely correct. There's a lot going on in Episode One that was lost on those expecting a remake of Episodes Four through Six. Failure to meet expectations is the only serious "fault" of Episode One - the problem is too many fanboys were expecting to feel just like they felt when they first watched a Star Wars movie. No dice.
