Texas has a great many admirable characteristics, BUT---Cajun food is better. Tex-mex isn't even in the running by comparison.

Depends on who's cooking either one.

Whatever you like, come to Houston. Houstonians spend more per capita dining out than any other city in the world. Consequently, there's lots of excellent choices for any particular flavor you're interested in. Right now I'm off to lunch at Doneraki's, for their Wednesday fajita special. Sit down place, excellent service, and food faster than McDonald's (no exaggeration), yet with superb quality. Usually I eat Chinese, Thai or Vietnamese, but these fajitas are fantastic.

Hey there. I'm in Houston (Rice U). I haven't found this great Texas BBQ everyone talks about. On my way down from home to college over Christmas, the best BBQ I had was from a black family joint in GEORGIA. IF Texans BBQ, is Houston just not big on it? [no Goode Company BBQ is not what I call quality]. thanks
