Hugh Hewitt just played a clip of Netanyahu saying that the IDF soldiers were killed by a 10-yr. old suicide bomber. Clip was from Fox News - this is unbelievable and I couldn't find a post of it anywhere.
They do....
"Arafat didn't act. Israel has all rights to go in and arrest the perps. Doesn't justify their methods. These aren't caves-these are neighborhoods they are destroying."
They're destroying these neighborhoods? I'd think if they wanted to do that, why send in ground troops...Israel has the means to make the place a blast furnace in just a couple of passes of jets.
"BIG difference. Sharon & Arafat both send in the young to do the dirty work."
Hmm....no. Take a look at a textbook in Israel and in the West Bank. Not quite the same...
"New leadership is needed on both sides."
Not sure that would change matters much...
"Israel is doomed with Sharon. Just ask the mothers of those that died today. Ask the dead soldiers families if they're sorry Sharon didn't listen to Bush. Their deaths would have been avoided. It's sad."
They made a huge sacrifice....how many civilians would've died if they had pulled out early?
"Israel lost this battle big time. (PR)"
I don't see how they can possibly win...when the major media conglomerates so obviously distort news reports to portray Israel in a bad light. A couple of examples: No retraction of stories blaming Israel for Mohammed Dura's death when a German camera crew came out with proof otherwise....and the reports of the IDF killing an Red Crescent ambulance driver, but no report that the ambulance had just run a security checkpoint....and recently, no report of the plastic explosives the Israelis and the Intl Red Cross found hidden in a Crescent ambulance....underneath the Palestinian child it was transporting...
Regards....
LOL!! I heard it as well and had the same thought !
I've got to agree. And Powell had better NOT meet with that AraRat.
Your post about "peace" was right on.
There is obviously more intelligent and clear thinking coming out of New Mexico than miami these days...
Please don't take this wrong. You called it right and I posted inaccurately in the very limited time I had to give my post. Please forgive or else go to hell :-)
1. the overwhelming majority of the Palestinian public (80.1%) supports the continuation of al-Aqsa Intifada.
2. The poll also showed a notable majority (71.9%) with the belief that arresting the Intifada activists is unjustifiable.
3.The poll showed that a majority (67.5%) supports the military operations as a Palestinian proper response under the current conditions while 26.1% opposed military operations, considering them harmful to the national interest.
4. A majority of Palestinian public (64%) still support the continuation of suicide (martyrdom) operations inside Israel compared with 68.6% in June 2001.
It would be interesting to see how these figures have changed since the events of the last week or so.
The Jews "dishonored" David so much for his actions that they made him king.
No thats not the way it works. The terrorists go after those they percieve as weak. Notice the suicide attacks against Israeli civilians have stopped? They attack appeasers, that is why the current round of fighting started when Barak, sp? was PM.
We cannot make them like us, they hate us just as much as they hate the Israelis. The only thing we can do is defeat them. Trying to appease them will only cause more death in the long run.
It would be better for them and for us and the Israelis if this could be decided decisively once and for all. This slow burning conflict kills many more in the long run, and causes everyone involved to live in fear and hatred. A sad result to negotiated peace settlements. The motives may be noble but the results are murdurous. In the real world it is results that matter, not the motives.
By the way, guess who gave the legitimate arms to the Palestinian police?
I read the same on CNN. I wonder why more hasn't been said about this particular suicide bomber, wouldn't surprise me if CNN was intentionally hedgy on the details. I'm much more apt to trust Bibi than not, but agree his comments need substantiated.
If there were more thoughtful examination of this issue, its historical precedents, and geo-political ramifications, there would be far less mindless support of the murderers -- on this forum and elsewhere.
After reading your intelligent posts (& others)while discounting the racist ones, I was able to see the holes in my thinking. My position on Israel has changed 360degrees. Israel MUST win & carry the fight all the way. Arafat must go-Sharon has guts. I also think Netinyahu? will make a great leader for these times. This IS a battle to the end.
I look forward to visiting when things quiet down. Thanks for opening my eyes. I guess I was a victim of media brainwash.
