I would imagine we should try to meet outside the building about 6:45-7pm, the meeting starts at 7:30. I am pretty sure we'll be able to get some of our people into the meeting. The others can rally with signs etc. outside while the meeting is taking place. Bring sign making stuff (I'll have some extra) and whatever else you might carry with you.
On April 15, 2002, in the Des Plaines City Council (Chicagoland), we need as many Freepers to show up as possible. They are going to discuss a very wideranging gun and ammunition ban, and we need to show up in forceful, subdued but stalwart opposition.
The location is Room 102, 1420 Miner St. Des Plaines, IL, the time is 7:00PM, and the date is Monday, April 15, 2002.
Please dress appropriately (no cammos please!) and act appropriately (no outburst). I am not thinking a standard Freep will be in order, nor will it be well-received by the council.
Be prepared to speak if we have the chance, and have your facts and figures ready. Contact me by freepmail and we will arrange a meeting location nearby.
In an earlier post I said the meeting was at 7:30 -- not true. LAZ (as usual) is correct -- it is at 7:00 PM.
Once inside the meeting (for those able to get in) Laz offers sound behavioral advice. Outdoors, however, there will be plenty of opportunity for signs, chants, etc.
The Metra parking lot is directly across the street and would make a good gathering point.
The bar will be open at my house (just minutes away) after the meeting if anyone's interested.

Looking forward to it! Beer on hand in abundance.
Any other takers?
Thanks for rallying the troops...
But, don't miss the chance to call or write him anyhow.
His contact info is listed at post #35 on this thread.
LIGHT UP HIS LIFE!
From what insiders tell me, Christiansen and Brookman will probably back Don Smith's gun-grabbing proposal. A real question-mark is Dick Sayad. He supports Daley's O'Hare expansion program and may support the gun-grab as well. If he does, it will be a 4-4 tie and the mayor will cast the tie-breaker. I think that he will be in our corner but cannot confirm. Here is a link to his contact info:
Mayor Tony
Des Plaines municipal politics are nominally non-partisan, candidates do not run on a ticket of either party. Mayor Tony does, however, show up at several of the GOP findraisers I sometimes attend.
Feel free to contact any of these people prior to the meeting on Monday night.
PS. Can I get an approximate headcount on those who might attend and those who might be coming to my open house afterwards.
So far, Laz is the only one to reply (thanks, Laz ;^) )!!!
