Answering one fellah's question: This book claims that there is a homosexual subculture within the jesuits, not that the majority of priests are homosexual. The majority of priests are not homosexuals. In areas of Orthodoxy, vocations are up, while in liberal areas vocations are down. I don't think losening the standards are a solution. Just look at the Marine Corps.
First problem you seem to have is that you assume that the percentage of homosexuals in the priesthood is greater than that of society as a whole--not really proven by anyone.
However, let's say that 25% of priests are homosexual (about 5X society at large.)
The simple answer is that homosexual Seminary Rectors and Bishops were interested in making these men into priests.
It has NOTHING to do with celibacy, because a practicing homosexual is not celibate...or don't you know?
In other words, the argument you attempt to make is not an argument from logic; it is one from confusion. Are you a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law??
