NPR will be running a piece along these same lines... Talk of the Nation I think.

There must be something in the wind.

It was amazing on 60 minutes last night young women believed they could wait until 45, 50 and 55 to have kids! I want to know WHO would want to still be raising kids at 65 or 70 and what benefit they truly believe they would have in starting so late!

I'll have my boys raised by 42 or 43!

There is no question that NOW has done more harm to women than anything on the planet. Its tragic how they exploit women.

NOW is the Taliban of America.

Misinformation, intimidation, male bashing, and a politically left agenda have led a generation of women astray.

My wife works as a behavioral therapist with Autistic children and that is a major tragedy nobody talks about.

So far, my child seems "normal", knock on wood. Interesting, my sister works with autistic children, and she is the one who suggested they have her checked. Kinda strange that I bump into alot of people who work with autistic children, when I never really knew what it was, other than the silly stereotypes. I know from my sister, that what your wife does is difficult and yet it can be quite rewarding. She is to be commended!

I will be 48 next month - my 6 week old son Nathan has made me feel many years younger.

However, my 14 year old daughter more than offsets that by making me feel many years older!

We knew what we were getting into two years ago when we decided we wanted one more child. There were those many months of heartbreak when we felt like we'd never be able to conceive. I still grieve for a miscarriage my wife had 4 years ago.

But all of my 3 kids are gifts from God, and we cherish them. As for retirement, that's another story. Just last week, I asked my broker to retitle my SEP-IRA account as 'Nathan's Beer Fund.'

One pet peave of mine is the idea that sex without consequences is good for women. In reality the men are the ones taking advantage of this and women carry the burden of spiritual, emotional and physical scars after leading this kind of life style and having abortions.

Oh yes, and the women dont realize until much later that they have been "taken"... I tell people that its the greatest scam ever pulled off on the population. It is as if a secret Cabal of Men put together the entire sexual revolution, as a means of getting guys laid easily. It is quite tragic, because often women dont realize they have been had until they are in their 30's, looking for a husband, wanting to have babies because their clocks are ticking, and yet find that not many respectable guys want a used up old car.. (excuse the metaphor, but thats the harsh reality).

NOW has long advocated the death of the viability of the contract in marriage for women. Women used to be contractualy protected, now they have to rely on the promises of NOW when they get sick or their lives become unfulfilled.

Since when anyone could trust an organisation of criminals like NOW that is not responsible for screwing the consciousness and lives of women, as if men ever were such bad contractualy free people...

Men are not pigs, NOW ARE PIGS!

Thank you.
It is rewarding for her as she is actually able to help the parents in their homes
This disease is like setting off an emotional handgrenade in a family. It changes everything.
Tragic and I sure hope they will find a solution/cure for it soon.

Before WWI, career women did NOT try to have husband and kids, and if they did so, it was truly the exceptional case. After WWII, Vassar gals et al. tried to tunr motherhood into a career. That proved unfullfilling , so by 1960 they had jumped off that bandwagon and in fact turned against marriage.

Agreed. My point was that the choice at any given moment is one or the other. Doing it the way you suggested does not compromise the well-being of the children. What these women are crying about smacks of nothing less that pure selfishness. Yet another product of the 'Me' generation.

There's got to be a conspiracy. And not the VRWC.
Gives "the old beater" a new meaning

I hate to tell you this, but at 45 it is very hard to start "a career". Age discrimination a very hard thing to overcome. Nobody talks about it, and employers say it doesn't exist, but I can tell you where I live there is a terrible teacher shortage and they will NOT hire you if you are 45 or older. Period.

That said, having my kids was more important than any career any day.

My wife started to work with Autistic children last year after raising our own kids.
It seems her maturity helps to deal with these precious children.
Maybe something you should look into?

NOW doesn't want women to know the truth about the abortion-breast cancer link, either. They are actually KILLING women, just like big tobacco killed a lot of people by withholding the TRUTH!!! www.AbortionBreastCancer.com

I started having kids at 26. We didn't "try" to get pregnant, but it just happened: my wife is 6 months pregnant at 42 (I'm 41). I can vouch for some of the things you mention. The baby that we are going to have has one undeveloped kidney (the other kidney is good, but is monitored monthly). There is no Down's Syndrome (no, we had no intention of aborting - the doctor strongly urged the test, because of my wife's age, so that we could have the proper medical equipment available during the birth) or any other genetic problems. The extra weight that my wife has to carry is very difficult for her, and she rarely sleeps through the night anymore because of her discomfort.

The worst thing will be my reduced ability to parent this child. I was able to coach sports, participate in scouts and teach religious education for the older kids. Now, I get tired easier. Also, I'm going to be 64 years old when this baby graduates from college and I may not live to see any of his kids.

Advice for you young Freepers: Have wild, crazy, unprotected sex with your wife between the ages of 24 and 34. After that, take an interest in politics.

The "Free Love" era was the biggest scam ever perpetrated on women. It gave men the greenlight to a sexual banquet of goodies, leaving a lot of silly women hurt, confused and angry.

What girls didn't realize was that it was her fellow sisters-of-lofty-purposes that gave men the meal ticket.

And what guy (or girl for that matter) in his right mind turn down an invitation to a sumptuous meal.

They fear the truth, because it will set people free, to make the right decisions for themselves.
Making these organisations obsolete.
