The reality was that Matthew Shepard was murdered by a couple of "pick-up's". If a woman left a bar with a couple of guys she didn't know for what was obviously going to be a sexual encounter, she would be considered responsible for her demise. "She was a slut", "she was drunk", etc.
However, if you are a gay guy and leave a bar with a couple of guys for what is supposed to be a sexual encounter and you get murdered, you are a victim.
It seems that if they really wanted to make a difference, they should be ending the silence about the consequences of leaving bars and having sex with people you don't know.

It seems that if they really wanted to make a difference, they should be ending the silence about the consequences of leaving bars and having sex with people you don't know. That's the sad thing. Shepard is their best example of hate-crimes against gays, but those same kind of crimes happen every day to all kinds of people. Being in a bar alone late at night is not the safest place, and leaving with strangers you don't know is really asking for it.

they should be ending the silence about the consequences of leaving bars and having sex with people you don't know. You are being too logical here--also expecting people to bear responsibility for their actions. Two concepts that don't fit the liberal agenda.

Not true! I saw the made-for-TV movie, and Matthew Shepard was only looking for a ride, not sex. He was totally innocent and minding his own business when he was picked on and set up by those red country homophobes. So get your facts straight!

What so many people don't know is that Shepard had HIV. So I ask who was going to murder who, the ones who really did kill him, or left to his own devices, Matt would have been busy spreading his HIV around to whoever he could catch for a one-night-stand? Death would have been the result either way, just the time-lines would be different.
Queers have already said "there queer, there here, and they've came for our children". So it sounds to me like they are seeking victims by finding out "which kids won't tell" by finding out who remained silent. To this I say, "Kids, if you've never been talkitive before, you'd better change for the 10th and talk your jaws off". Parents please protect your children from the queer lunatics.

I certainly would hope that you aren't surrounded by people that think if a woman gets killed by leaving with a guy/guys is the normal view in society.. that's pretty sad if you think that is the normal view.
