There's no question about it. Lots of Americans and others go to Cuba. But it's all at Castro's pleasure. Many are denied entry. Some are detained and booted out. You have to watch what you say to Cubans and they have to watch what they say to you. Spies and informants are everywhere. It boggles my mind that anybody would want to spend his vacation visiting a slave camp, but I suppose communist sympathizers just see it as a "historical necessity."

Bottom line is that Castro and his cohorts will never willingly give up control of Cuba's economy and people.

Luis, thank you, it's information like this:

More than 20,000 Cubans have been murdered and more than 500,000 jailed. More than one-sixth of the population – 2 million people – have fled the island, with three-fourths perishing at sea. Child abuse, political incarcerations, torture and murder are rampant, as Faria points out and documents in his book....

that needs to be repeated until everyone understands that Papa Fidel in no benign, fuzzy-faced ruler of a "worker's paradise," but rather one more of a long line of bloody-handed dictators who have robbed and oppressed their own people.
