US Has Given 50,000 Visas Since 9-11 To New Visitors From the Middle EastWell, so much for a total freeze on all immigration. A year long moratorium would have been a wise move on our part. This is very very foolish and might just back to haunt us, in the long run. Awfully disappointing!

How many Scandinavians?

I guess the 3,000+ deaths of September 11th weren't enough for our leaders to pull their heads out of the sand. How many Americans have to die before we can get real immigration reform? 30,000? 300,000? This is lunacy.

I guess the tree stooges are alive and well and running this country.

I've said it before on FR and will say it again: I will take the domestic war on terrorism seriously when the U.S. government takes serious control our borders. We simply cannot have it both ways. We cannot have open borders and security in America. It is preposterous to suggest it.

This kind of incompetence is what gets very militaristic and authoritarian governments created. They claim to fix the problem, and then other problems follow. Is this great republic so divided that the normal political process will not allow selection of someone who will push to do what is necessary? Bush is far, far better than the alternative, and doesn't always show his cards, but in the immigration area he is a very big disappointment to me.

Tis true. Right now about 80 Arab, foreign students have set up an anti US/Israel demonstration on the same street (about a two blocks west) of JimRob's Friday night vigil.

Well, this squares with Bush's recent command to Israel: "be compassionate at checkpoints".

Everyone on this thread is ignoring the true reason that visas will never be cut back: money. The money that the visa holders bring to airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, theme parks and resorts, restaurants, souvenir stands, universities, and even to the government itself. Money, money, money.
Another thing that no one on this forum seems to talk about is how much more expensive housing and food would be without illegal construction and agricultural workers. And how many people have under-the-table nannies, housecleaners and gardeners?
I'm not saying this excuses illegal immigration and loose visa policies, but it is the harsh reality. It is why all these calls on the forum for "stopping all visas now" are 100% futile.

Wahhabis in the Old Dominion
The kingdom pledged $400 million last year for the support of "martyrs' families," according to the Saudi Embassy website. At $5,300 per "martyr," that works out to about 75,000 martyrs, suggesting the Saudi princes anticipate a lot more suicide bombings than Israel has yet suffered.
I doubt that they've all gone to Ramallah.

Why doesn't the INS just move in the Al Quata army? Just get it over with?
Who are these people, and what are they doing to our country?
