One of the strange realities of Western (read: enlightened) societies is that they are reluctant to recognize pure evil when it's right in their face. Mein Kampf wasn't taken seriously yet it laid Hitler bare to anyone who might have read it. Marx, Lenin et al did not pen children's books and then go over to the dark side once they got power. People, that is good people, can't fathom that these madmen could actually be serious, and if they do believe that they tend to dismiss the possibility that they would ever gain power, and even if that came true that they would actually put their words into action. Sadly, we've seen this all before.

The most dangerous combination is evil + charisma + intelligence. Combine these and you get Hitler. We don't have that combination yet in the Arab world, but if we do look out. At the moment we have evil + stubborn + stupid. This gives you Arafat.

Arafat and the Arab Wahabist muslims have never been shy about their hatred of Jews and Christians. It is evil, and it is there for the world to see. They are serious and believe their own delusions. It would do us well to take them at their word.

The premise of the Oslo Accords was that the Israeli-"Palestinian conflict was not an irreconcilable religious war, but one over borders. The problem with Israel and the Arabs is simply they both reject to be secular nations that accept all people as equal. Therefore, by definition, the nation's religion gets preferential treatment, be it Judaism or Islam. The rest of the population will definitely feel oppressed, and discriminated against. How would our Jewish friends in America (or the Moslems) feel if we declared that we are a Christian nation, and started treating them like second class? Or better yet, started hate speeches against them? As it is they are always crying over a nativity scene in parks every Christmas season! How would you like to be a Jew living in Egypt or Iran, and having to endure daily doses of hate in your own media. Why can't the US force both the Arabs and the Israelis to abandon their official national religion idea? Please do not start with God and the promised land thing! We obviously can see how discrimination against others in South Africa, Ireland, and all the Arab countries, and yes in Israel can lead perfectly accommodating people into hostility toward their friends and neighbors. We all know that we all hate the teacher's pet. So why are we willing to accept privileges for certain people based on religion. If we in the west insist on separation of church and state, why don't we push that on the Arabs and the Israelis?

The PLO was a political terrorist organization, that discovered religion. The hate, and jihad proved to be a good resource to recruit stupid kids to be martyrs. WE should learn from that and help people tune down that religion thing. I know these are fighting words for the foaming at the mouth fundamentalist Christians, Jews, and Moslems. But guys we have to share this stupid earth, you know!

Rush, Hannity, others. Anyone with a national platform, should do his or her utmost, to provide synopses on a regular basis of the original language broadcasts and papers in Arabic in that part of the world that will show what they know to be their internal truths and hopes--not the filtered stuff they then sit down later to revise to fit our naive, insular American ears and their saavy external image!!!! Hope those guys are hitting this thread.

Actually before 911, several hosts I listen to would occasionally read transcripts from Arabic papers and tell their audiences about how heinous some of this stuff is.

1) Please specify the ways in which Israel is not secular and discriminates against non-Jewish citizens.

2) Please specify the ways in which the 22 Arab nations are not secular and discriminate against non-Muslim citizens.
