.38 Super, ~450#' is like a mild .357 Sig or .357 Magnum. Handloads optimize it far ahead of any 9x19 mm. In a tuned pistol, it is a fine choice for target or defense with Corbon ammunition. .38 Super ruled the handgun target penetration game from 1929 until 1935 when S&W introduced their large frame revolver in .357 Magnum.
