Oh, I remembered a few more of my favorite war flicks.
Starship Troopers It's a better book than a movie, the book pays tribute to the Pacific Island hoppers of World War 2 in a future setting. It also described a kind of world I would not mind living in. Military service means citizenship, which entitles you to vote, as well as giving you the first spot in line for many things in life. It also talks of taking responcibility for your own actions.
Stalag 17 I almost think of it as Christmas flick, but I think it also belongs in the war flick category too.
Gladiator Impressive battle sequence in the beginning, gets the ole heart racing thinking about it.
