Yeah, it just breaks my heart that the Anti-Defamantion League might not appear either. They felt that they could not support the school board's "discrimination" by deleting G.L.I.D.E. from the program. They felt that exercising our democratic procedures and right to be heard was an abomination! How dare they! We never said this group could not be heard, just move it off our campuses. The two members of the board claim that parental permission slips would avoid students getting in that didn't have permission. Well....that defense was shot down last year when a School Board Member claimed that permission slips "were not monitored." It was too hard to keep students out who were just curious to the goings on. So this year, they thought they'd be clever and try to appease us parents by moving the forum to a Saturday instead of giving the students an incentive to go based on getting out of school. The problem with that defense is that the whole goal of these advocacy groups is to get the students that support homosexuality to disiminate the information that they obtain and make sure it gets talked about, and delivered to the students who didn't go. This is not about tolerance.....really it's not. Some of these student "homosexual" clubs are rabid in the stance and will not tolerate anti views whatsoever. They've learned well. So, protecting our children from information that we don't want them uneccessarily exposed to, is a tenacious task. We keep trying to get that through to the administrators, and luckily our efforts (as a parents group) to get two new conservative Board members voted in resulted in one of them actually winning a seat. That leveled the playing/voting field. Hard work, but worth every minute. I hope they move it off the campuses too. Then we've killed two birds with one stone and didn't even have to dispose of the bodies......
