Profound changes are about to happen in spite of what anyone may or may not embrace. Speaking on a local level, I welcome the change. And would love even a nod at Ex Corde. You wouldn't believe the sex ed program I just got done fighting at my kids Catholic school. But, I found out, it isn't just the school, the archdiocese of NY mandates a certain level of Sex Ed for seventh graders and the discussion of masturbation and homosexuality, therein. How does a teacher do that with thirty kids in a coed class and maintain dignity and a respect for their modesty. Answer: she can't because some little wiseguy watches MTV and the Playboy channel at home and is going to use the forum to widen the discussion with an "innocent" question, disrupting the process. Which is why the Pontifical letter to the Family on Human Sexuality counsels this education is best done in the home by the parents. Yet another example of the bishops thumbing their nose at JP2. Educators and parents have an understandable kneejerk reaction which is to obey their Bishop. In their gut, if they knew the Bishops defied the Pope and the Pope's true thinking, they would have the stomache to bypass the Bishops. This is the information that needs to get out. What the Pope said. V's wife.

Unfortunately, I would believe it. I used to live in the Diocese of Portland, Maine. I taught my children Catechism so corrupt was that Diocese. I used to go to the Indult Mass and regularly met with other Catholic Fathers who had sent their children out of State. They knew the Diocese could not be relied upon to deliver Catholic Truth in Catholic Schools.

A group of us met with Bishop Joseph Gerry and our concerns were met with denial and obfuscation. We were promised another meeting but another meeting nbever occured. That is standard procedure for AmBishops.

I even had the then Chancellor of the Diocese tell me ,"...... (my name blanked out), everyone over here thinks you are nuts. We really do. You are crazy.

While true, it wasn't "compassionate."
