The American Jewish population to a large extent (at least that 80 percent that robotically punched the "Gore" hole in '00) strikes me as demographic that exists in a sort of fantasy world. Theirs must be a world wherein stark, brutal experience (i.e. the Nazis' ovens that incinerated so many European Jews)is immaterial to the present gun "control" debate here in the States.

Well, you're right, but it's even worse than you think.

I read a letter to the editor in the Jew York Times (don't bother asking for an apology, I'm Jewish) a while back from a "holocaust survivor" Mr. Goldberg, who said he was appalled that America wouldn't confiscate all the privately owned guns, because the Nazis had used guns to arrest him and his family. At first, his attitude appeared so ludicrous on the face of it that I thought his letter must be a hoax.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that that is *exactly* how stupid most of my fellow Jews are. They can't even see the abstract issue - they think that somehow if they can just make all the guns go away, there can't be any "pogroms" conducted by screaming mobs. They seem incapable of even understanding the long view, that governments in general can't be trusted with absolute power, and that this Government (all bow) could end up in the hands of another Hitler.

As a result, I have a throwaway comment I like to use to infuriate liberal Jews: "I used to think Jews were loud but intelligent, but since they came for my guns, I now just think they're loud". (You should see my Jewish relatives go ballistic...)

All American lib's - Jews are no exception - suffer from a severe case of "Stockholm Syndrome" where they inevitably come to sympathize more with their attackers than they do with those who would free them.

Kinda like the little kid on the playground who, out of fear and the hope of currying favor, feigns frienship with the kid who bullies him when the teacher comes to find out what the problem is.

There's something to that, when it comes to Jews - but it's not just American Jews. There's a cultural trait of masochism and self-hatred among us, that developed throughout the centuries after the Diaspora. Psychiatrists have long recognized it in Jews, and you can see it reflected in the rabbinical scribblings of the Middle Ages.

It's a developed trait, though, not a congenital one, I think. One of the Roman Emperors (Caligula, maybe?) had to dispatch troops to Greece to quell an uprising when the Christians and Jews started quarreling, and the Jews took up arms and took to the streets. (Ah, those were the days...)

There are some American Jews who took the correct position on Yugoslavia, but, unfortunately, your suggestion is generally correct. Were I ever given an opportunity to ask one question to Bill Kristol, my question would be "say, Bill, how is it that Muslim terrorists in the Balkans are GOOD Muslim terrorists but Muslim terrorists in Israel are BAD Muslim terrorists?"

Earlier today, after this thread was launched, I wondered to myself if perhaps liberal American Jews mis-direct their Holocaust fury not at "government" per se (as in, the Nazi regime that perpetrated the Holocaust)but at the tools that enabled government to carry out the Final Solution. Since the Nazi braintrust was long ago eradicated and its foot soldiers deceased or tottering about in their infirmity, there remains little of a breathing reminder for Holocaust survivors to associate with Hitlerian terror. But guns! Ahh, yes, the guns! They are still with us. Not that this makes any more sense to me (I find absolutely zero moral equivalency between my .12 gauge pump shotgun and an S.S. trooper's machine pistol). However, the theory WAS rattling around in my head. The letter writer you mention seems to be of that mindset. One wonders if he ever considered the fact that a good many of the American riflemen who liberated the death camps in the spring of '45 were a product of the "gun culture" that he now so urgently wishes to eradicate under the guise of "public safety."

CCAR President Rabbi Martin Wiener presented the shift in his organization's position as the result of a soul-searching the movement has conducted since the intifada broke out. "Many of us who supported the Oslo process in the past decade have to admit that the Palestinians do not want peace," Wiener said during his visit to Israel.

I'm glad to hear that.

Well, this Jew has always supported the Serbs. I was spitting mad at Clinton (not that I needed another excuse). Jews owe Serbs big-time for what they did in WWII. I have not forgotten.

I should have also pointed that most Israeli Jews did not forget either. The general perception in Israel, as I best understand, is that we were bombing the wrong people in Yugoslavia- a perception with which I strongly agree!

Having grown up in New York, I'm absolutely convinced that many American Jews (not all) have been brainwashed by the media and the schools into believing that Hitler was a practicing Christian. Therefore, when they see a Christian (especially a conservative one), they see not just a political opponent, but a potential threat to their very survival. The saddest part about it is that American Christians are some of the staunchest supporters of Israel in the entire world.

...how is it that Muslim terrorists in the Balkans are GOOD Muslim terrorists but Muslim terrorists in Israel are BAD Muslim terrorists?

Thank all of you for your replies, as Jews who support the Serbs for the best of reasons!

I belong to a certain interfaith group that does good things in my local community. In a post-Sept. 11th discussion, when I refused to go along with the politically-correct party line about "American" muslims, and said that the same people who now call for supporting muslims after 9/11 should have been supporting the Serbs in 1999, this normally-nice Jewish lady practically bit my head off!!! Some other members of the group (including some Jews) knew before that incident about my close relations with the local Serbian community and church--I wonder if they had been talking about that to each other before that incident.

To be fair to Jews, I know quite a number of American Christians who think that some muslim terrorists are good and others bad. Not only do some of them demonize their Serbian Christian brothers and sisters and therefore support islamic supremacism in the Balkans, but some also have "sympathy" for the "Palestinians", and justify monsters like Arafat as "freedom fighters". I hope that the current happenings in the Holy Land convince many of them about the true nature of the "Palestinian" movement, its relationship to al Qaeda, and its anti-Christian nature.

This Jew also supported the Serbs. I am against all Jihads.

The Serbs were great to Jews in WW2. I am shamed by the Jewish liberals who helped the Albanian Muslims and propagandized for them.

60,000 Muslim Voters in Florida Played A Historic Role

(Orlando, Florida - 11/17/00) Of the 100,000 Muslim Americans in Florida, at least 60,000 have voted in this year's election. As estimated in a telephone survey of 350 Muslim Floridians, 91% have voted for Gov. Bush, 8% for Ralph Nader, and 1% for Vice President Al Gore.
At least half of Muslim voters live in I - 4 Corridor, the least committed group of voters in the entire state. In an exclusive
exit poll of Florida Muslims, 91% of those polled indicated that they had voted for George W. Bush.

Political pundits have been slow in acknowledging the crucial, even decisive, role of the Muslim vote in Florida," says Dr. Sami Al-Arain, a professor of engineering and a Florida resident. He, however, hopes, that "once the dust settles and serious political analysis begins, the importance of those groups that have voted enbloc will become apparent to all."

ìIn this year's election, not only the 7 million Muslim have crossed the rubicon, we have played a decisive role in the formation of a new national coalition of voters, observes, Dr. Agha Saeed, chairman of the American Muslim Political Coordination Council, the umbrella organization that had endorsed Gov. Bush and urged American Muslims to vote for him. ìIt wonít be long before political analysts realize that Muslim voters have played a historic role.

Actually, I am a Christian, myself. And you are all too correct in your assessment that many Christians are hypocritical in this respect. I think, without to religion, we can classify such hypocrites in one camp- NEO-CONSERVATIVES (at least liberals are not really hypocritical; they supported Muslims in Yugoslavia but also make excuses for them in Israel, whereas the neo-cons ONLY hate Muslim terrorists in the Middle East).

In actual fact, Hitler and his gang were trying to destroy Christianity in the "Reich"!!! There is some very recently discovered documentation that proves that convincingly, but some of us (myself included) have known that for a long time.

Besides that, at least some top Nazis, especially Himmler, favored islam!!! Himmler worked closely with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al Husseini, and wanted to make islam an aternative religion for the SS, if not the "Reich" in general. (The main "religion", of course, was to be some version of Teutonic paganism.)

The Mufti had a younger relative, Muhammad al Husseini, who took the nom de guerre "Yasser Arafat". You all know the rest of the story.
