Self-search, retrieving a post..it's all much slower. It's almost like a 7 second delay, and I am on a high speed connection. Every other site is just as fast as it was prior to FR's launch.

You say it's better, I say it's not. It's soooo slooooooooow!!! I'm sitting on a 5mb internet connection and Freerepublic takes FOREVER to load for me now. What used to take 2 seconds now takes 10+.

Self-search used to return results for me in about 3-5 seconds, I find myself waiting 20+ now. There's a bottleneck somewhere, I can't tell if it's the code or the servers but it's definitely there.

The functionality enhancements are all fine, but it seems the more you add, the slower FR gets for me.

Just my .02 worth.

I feel your pain. There's no doubt that I liked the old version better. NO DOUBT!

I'd like to add that it would really help us 56k modem people if "New Posts to You" would NOT show pictures as it really, really increases download time for that option.

Don't know. I know a little about software and human psychology. People don't like change. You can increase functionality without changing the GUI.

Yep, I don't mind tweaking here and there, but a complete overhaul of something as great as the original FR might not have been necessary.

You are absolutely right. The speed just isn't there. Let's hope John can figure out what is clogging the pipeline. It's driving me crrrraazzzzy.

This new style "SUCKS" "BIG TIME"!!!!!

The headings don't 'stand out'. All the words, titles, subtitles (EVERYTHING), all seem like one BIG BLURRR on the eyes...with the same font! UGGGLLYYY, man! REAL#%$@#$ UGLY!

Now, that's all I've got to say. I hope the 'better days' return (and soon!).
