That can't be true Jaded...it wasn't setup for personal gain..and they've given no indication that they were going to keep it. Did you read my comments from a few weeks ago about how a local family who had a similar situation..their 8-10 yr old (forgot exact age) daughter was kidnapped, raped and murdered...the community donated thousands of dollars... the family was taken to court to make sure the money was spent appropriately--they weren't attacking the parents by doing it and the parents didn't take offense..the judge was pretty leniant. The family was very poor prior...they bought a house and put the rest of the money in a college trust for their other kids. Do you think that was greedy? The terrible part of this case was the sister watched the jerk grab the victim in his truck and take off. The last known words of the victim were screams for help. The freak that did this actually told a co-worker that he wanted to do something like this sometime...!

"Do you think that was greedy?"

Unless those who donated the money earmarked it for this purpose, yes. Is the Red Cross greedy for using our millions of dollars intended for 9/11 victims for upgrading their offices and giving raises to personnel? I think so. If they had asked for money for that purpose, it might be different. All of the ads asking for donations stated they would be going to 9/11 victims. It is the same with the van Dams, and the same with the family in your community. If the doners intended for it to help the family buy a new house, then no problem. If not, they're less than honest.
