Yes I certainly believe that Jesus is returning to Earth soon. We don't know when, and the Bible warns us not to focus on the day or time, but it does say "When you see these things come to pass, LOOK UP, for your redemption draweth nigh". I am packed and ready!!

Amen! You would not believe (well, on second thought...) how many Christians believe it will all end "in heaven." When you try to correct their thinking so they realize that Christ will reign for a thousand years on this present earth; then the current heavens and earth will be rolled up like a garment and burned; and that a new heaven and new earth will come into being, it's like their brain goes into a numbed state. I guess they have never read the last two chapters of the Bible. It is actually quite frustrating.

Consider that the Roman Empire never went away, although it has moved its corporate offices a few times.

I just found this thread, so I thought I'd comment on it, in spite of the fact it's been around awhile.
Disreguarding the dogmatism which always erupts from many corners concerning this subject, let me say this. Personally, I find that believing in a pre-Tribulation Rapture encourages holy living; for at any moment, one could find themselves standing before the living Lord. Granted, some of the more lazy and willfully ignorant Christians will use the Rapture as an excuse to cower and hide, as opposed to confronting evil, that is no worse than the Christian Reconstructionists who believe the world must be subdued before Jesus returns, or the amillennialists, who don't believe there are end times, that the world is getting better and better, etc.
Even things which are clear as glass can be muddied by sinful human nature. This is no exception. The only really important questions are in whose blood are you covered? Whom do you serve?
If the Church is destined to suffer through the Tribulation, then God's Grace will be sufficient for that day. If the Church is to be removed, not experiencing God's wrath, then it's a blessed hope for the future that should be cherished, as well as effecting how we live and deal with one another.
As for the theology, whenever a thread such as this appears, it's a given that the same old tired, dogmatic doctrines will be presented. Nobody learns from this. It's like a room full of people who all talk at once, and do not listen. Everyone wants to speak their two-cents, and they do. I could write several pages which would be an attempt to justify my own dearly-held doctrine, just as dogmatically as the others. Would anyone listen? Past experience tells me that no, they would not.
The Rapture question is not crucial to Salvation. Although Salvation itself is subject to dogmatic heresy, it is not so prevelent as the Rapture. Usually questions of Salvation are found coming from outside the Body of Christ.
So, I would modify the title of this thread to read: Will You be Ready to Meet Jesus when He Comes Again?
Sadly, many people who think they would, will find themselves left out in the cold.

Well I see we have been once again removed from the front page. What a shame.I guess religion and politics don't really mix though, so why should I be surprised. Just a word, be Prepared," for in such a HOUR as you THINK NOT, the Son Of Man cometh".

You sound positively post-millenial. All I can say to you is, AMEN!

Yes. I am a recovering dispensationalist. Read Crenshaw and Gunn's book on dispenstionalism and take a dose of Kenneth Gentry and Loraine Boettner and it pretty much cures the disease.
