FreeRepublic Re-Design

This new design is confusing and very nauseating. Hey, haven't you heard of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

You could have just unsubscribed from the state board notifications in your state page.
Your state news headlines can also be added to your sidebar.

Very pretty, but sure not very functional. This seems to be going the way of software upgrades. Each gets harder to use, and slows up what you wanted to do (and has more screwed up glitches) than the old way.

LOL.......well, at least you can SEE them all......I am still finding my way around!

Headline: Conservatives resist change!!!!

"Create your own sidebar." Won't Happen...I'm busy keeping up with all the Chinagate material. FYI, I like the old format, but costs are important.

I agree. It wasn't "broke" yet someone felt the compulsive need to screw with a familiar and workable design and format. Somehow it feels like a "horse designed by a committee" ---and ended up with a camel. Or, a new staff officer who was recently exposed to some different ideas and is now convinced that everything with which he becomes associated must be changed to conform to those new ideas. Isn't there an old saying that "to a carpenter with only a hammer everything looks like a nail?"

This is my fourth visit this morning and I still can't figure out how to get breaking news.A temporary cure might be going to Drudge Report ;-)

hehehehe...
Even conservatives can change, they will just kick and scream their whole way into the future. Soon this format will be "old" and "familiar" enough that you will all fight to defend it.

You could have just unsubscribed from the state board notifications in your state page. I suppose so, but what the hell ... I never subscribed to "state board notifications" in the first place.

Appropriate name!
I wanted to use Oldtimer but decided not to!
There are some new nifty functions that a lot of us have been asking for !
Keywords are back !
More customizable - ability to choose what shows in the sidebar!
Navigation is very different though!

If there's one thing I find sickening, it's a bunch of malcontent whiners. It's really sad how some people are so resistant to change. They get caught up in their own little caccoon world and lash out at anything that slightly nudges them out of their comfort zone. Grow up, be an adult, and give something new a chance. If you still don't like it, lodge a well-thought mature complaint, not some knee-jerk temper tantrum 'cause your pacifier got taken away.

There was never the concept of "subscribing"!
There was always a lot of complaining about inappropriate postings in the breaking news column and you couldn't get rid of it!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
It's there. click Topics at the upper right, click on Breaking News and click Subscribe to This on the left side.
I didn't find out how to do this until today.
To: rs79bm
Leave it the way it was. The flag to the left takes up usable space and subtracts from the accessibility of written material.

Well it was broke!

See post #37. Let me know which points I make that you disagree with. Explain the advantages of the new 1 1/2inch wide "faded flag" border that scrunches everything else up. Lets build a gas station on your front lawn and call it progress, and see if you whine, lol...
To: rs79bm
Yes, I know. It needs work. A little nip here, tuck there, cut one out here, add another there, tweak a bit r and we'll be back in business in no time. To all who are having a rough time of it, hang in there. We'll get all of this sorted out soon. Thanks, Jim

There was never the concept of "subscribing"!Then you'll probably want to take that up with HairOfTheDog. He maintains that there is.
