actually it means "Great Stalin - symbol of friendship between nations of USSR"

It says literally this: "Great Stalin is the banner of friendship between the peoples of the USSR!". I guess what was meant was that he was equally mean to everybody in the Soviet Union. re: post#41 -schools, I disagree. Sadly but true, with the exception of some renounced US universities, the rest of the academic institutions here do not grant very good education up to the world standard and the USSR DID have excellent universities. Been there, seen it, been here compared it, sorry but true.
