The media could care less if the story is false or not. When it is inevitably proven false, the gay community will spout the well-rehersed song and dance about how this poor girl should be commended for trying to call attention to the rampant persecution that gays are subjected to every day in our irrationally homophobic society.

That's how these false claims always seem to get spun.
