Just like the Supreme Court killed the hopes of pro-lifers with Roe v. Wade, right? Wrong. If the response to Roe v. Wade is any indication, we should realize that one Supreme Court decision does not mean an issue is dead. Besides, the Supreme Court has already ruled that limits can be placed on campaign contributions. What makes you think this will go down in flames? I think the president could have used his position to publicly educate the people as to why this bill is unconstitutional and why he was going to veto it.
Exactly. There is no guaranty that the Supreme Court will kill this.
This bill restricts rights in the Constitution, and dems or Not, at least either Stevens or Breyer, will join the Right side, and O'Connor, in areas excepting abortion is reliable in this area as well.
The court generally takes a much dimmer view of restricting rights, (out side of Law and Order issues), than expanding ones that don't exist.
What do you expect him to do, commandeer all print and broadcast media, until they come around to his way of thinking. Like it or not, the Leftist media is responsible for the viablility of much of the expressed opinion in this country, you need look no further than the fact that nearly one third of ALL AMERICANS own guns, yet gun control is a viable political opinion in this country....The presidents "education' would last 30 seconds after he was finished delivering it, only to be discredited for the next 2 YEARS in the media.
