I always thought standing for smaller government meant just that, whether that means criticizing a Democrat or Republican administration.

Bwahahahahaha. Live and learn. When "Winning is Everything" serves as a philosophical foundation, anything can be rationalized. That's all we're really witnessing here. It's been obvious on this forum since before the 2000 election. I don't understand why so many are just now noticing it.

Here's two cents from a certified Bush basher:

The most effective posts critical of GWB's signing of CFR have come from strong Bush supporters who are now disappointed. I could post a thousand-word screed about it that would change nobody's minds because of my past strong criticism of the guy. I have praised him six times and damned him a hundred.

The bottom line is that many more of the fellow travellers will peel off, especially when he delivers the next inevitable shot to the heart of conservatives. The ones who continue to blame everyone else for his shortcomings will merely be part of a steadily dwindling core of rats in a sinking lifeboat.

Interesting home page. Wasn't one of the concerns of the writers of the Constitution, that the "tyranny of Democracy" would destroy the country? Didn't see that anywhere.

This is just a minor observation, and not a comment intended to provoke anyone. I would like to tell you how I see GW's actions, speaking as an independent / swing voter.

Most of my life I have heard two things: (1) everyone in the GOP hates anything to do with public education, and (2) everyone in the GOP is owned by big business.

I did not vote for any GOP candidate while listening to this.

I realize the above are generalizations, but I am simply saying this is the mantra repeated over and over by the opposition to the GOP.

In light of how close the election was in Nov 2000, I think GW has to consider many angles that may not be on the minds of some people here.

IMO, By GW signing the education bill and this CFR bill, he makes it more difficult for the opposition to make the above accusations, because most voters do not have a grasp of all the nuances of these issues. They only hear: a GOP president may NOT hate public education, and a GOP president may be willing to reform CF.

Consequently, I actually think it is possible -- possible -- for GW to have picked up votes from those voters outside the GOP, as a result of the above two actions.

Again, this is not intended to provoke anyone, or to pass judgment in any way on GW or any person here.

I am merely saying something from the view where I see things, and I realize that view may not be the view of the majority of voters, or the majority of this forum, or of GW's political party, but, I am just putting it on the table. That's all. Have a good day.

Thank you so much for your opinion. I used to be on the other side of this debate and I would stay up nights worrying who was criticizing Bush. Now that I can think independently while still being a conservative, it really is liberating. I am free to praise the Bush administration (wanting to seek death for Moussaoui) or criticize him (appeasing Arafat, CFR, amnesty, etc.). This doesn't mean that I am from the DU, it just means that I can think for myself. Bush is a servant of the people not a king. Even the ultimate King, Jesus, was a servant to his apostles when he washed their feet.

I Am Not sure if this came up (Have not had time to read this whole thread let alone the 10 billion other CFR threads) but was this not VETO PROOF when Passed by the House and Senate?

I know the Senate was since it passed with 60 votes!

Said it before and ill say it again The president is a man no more no less he is prone to mistakes like any other I agree with siome that he does and other things i do not

BUT there are many who are bush worshippers who will agree with anything he says no matter what i think we affectionatly call these SHEEPLE there were and still are many sheeple left over from X42's rein of terror!

That being said many people are yearning and thirsting for a president and leader who will act like a grownup and be brave ,reverant and above all TRUTHFUL i think weve found alot of these charactoristics in president bush but he is far from perfect and not at all worthy of worshipping PRAISE FOR GOOD DEEDS YES WORSHIP NO !

Regardless of what people do or say Republican or Democrat he is JUST A MAN NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS

Now Tom Dasshole thats another story altogether. !

sheltonmac:

"Rather than crash the pro-Bush orgy threads, I thought I would honor the requests of the "we must support the president at all costs" crowd and let them bask in their Republican utopia in ignorant bliss."

Nice opening, in light of the sentence that follows: "Consider this a thread that seeks actual debate and discussion concerning the "accomplishments" of our current president."

That's just about the most two-faced, disingenous thing that I've seen around for quite sometime. You seek "actual debate" by insulting those whom you wish to debate?

Or is the actual truth the fact that you seek NO DEBATE WHATSOEVER, and instead, you just want to have a thread where you can host a Bush supporter bashing party all of your own?

That's the way that this vanity of yours reads.

So tell me, why should anyone attempt to discuss anything with some jackass who insults them with every word that he writes?

Haven't you now become that which you criticize?

You don't seek debate in any form, you wrote an ignorant, insulting, flame-bait, and are smuggly patting yourself in the back because of the apparent approval of the Moderators. So sit back, be proud of your shortcomings, and bask in your absolute lack of class.

"This thread is in response to the blatant display of sheer ignorance on the part of some FReepers."

You want sheer ignorance? Invest in a mirror.

Buy one that reflects on both sides, you'll need it for each side of your face.

Like two dung beetles (congress, and now the executive) rolling their prize toward the Supremes. Hopefully, it won't pass the smell test,-but if it does.....

Blame it on the voters, they're voting for socialism and have for some time. Our representitives reflect this fact. Neither the voters or reps give a crap about the constitution, never have, maybe never will.

It's called "being screwed from the start" and America is sleeping, afraid to awaken to the difficult choices that lie ahead if her republic is to survive. That's what's so great about FR. Ain't nobody sleeping here! If nothing else, this is the goddam alarm clock!! :-)

Thanks for starting this thread. I started to do this myself after one of the Bush-Bots pinged me to come to the other thread. I was a good boy there,so I didn't post anything. All they want to hear is "Don't worry,be happy!"

I will admit to being a reluctant supporter of Bubba-2,but I DID vote for him. My reluctance was based mostly on him being the son of his idiot father, and his stated softness on 2nd Amendment issues.

What made me first realize I had made a mistake was when he granted China PERMANENT "Most Favored Nation" trade status. THere is and was absolutely NO excuse for this, other than his uncle Prescott Bush being in business with the Chinese slave owners. What finally tore it beyond salvage was his creating the new Cabinet position and bureaucracy called the "Office of Homeland Security". Right away this convinced me that at heart he is a fascist son-of-a-bitch who is working for a world-wide corporate government. He's probably mad because the title of "Office of Reich Security" had already been taken. The fact that he had this all planned-out and ready to roll on 12 Sept tells me he was licking his chops and waiting for a excuse to give birth to that puppy,as well as to the so-called "Patriot's Act".

I have no doubt at all that the Republic would have been safer with Goober as president. EVERYBODY things he is stupid, and most people who know him hate him, even his fellow Dims. No way in hell he could have gotten 10% of the crap passed that Bubba-2 got without any real discussion.

Defenders of W signing CFR saying things like;

He warned them he would sign it. He won't do their work for them.

"I guess when you want to get MEANINGFUL CFR you avoid the obvious veto bait and keep the issue out of the dem's hands, so that hopefully you can get a Senate elected and some JUDGES appointed.

These lame excuses are like trying to defend a rapist with;

She was asking for it.

She had it comming, do you see the way she dresses.

WAKE UP! He took an oath.

A conservative grass roots BUMP

BTW: As I have posted before, I suppose those "THE GUILD" threads I have seen that post like they are the a Star Magazine with all the Hollywood awards shows think they have a cause of importance.

I have seen threads that when these (even if Bush signed us up for world governance and world tax with the U.N.-would still go ga-ga over him) get in a hissy they then personaly attack become vicious and brag about how much money THEY give to FR,and also ask how much others donate.I guess if enough money is given anybody can rule the discussion blindly to any constructive criticisim or debate.
