The First Amendment to the Constitution begins "Congress shall make no law" on several subjects, including any law "abridging freedom of speech."
That's an entirely positive statement of little worth. It's not normative in any way.
Changing your mind does not constitute a lie. A lie is told if it is untrue at that moment, or having specific knowledge, was untrue. A lie does not go forward. It stays only in the present or goes back to the past. If I say I'm going to Six Flags this weekend, then Saturday comes and I don't go, did I lie? Did I lose my "principle?" No. I changed my mind.
But like I said, we are at war whether you want to believe it or not. The Left is in a constant state of war with us. They aren't talking about "principles." We are, and get our heads handed to us continually.
When do the gloves come off? When you find your precious "principles" being used as a noose around your neck, you'd best check yourself.
Fight to win, by any means necessary, or die. You make the choice.
As for me, I say praise God and pass the ammunition.
